Job Description

Job Title: Knowledge Lawyer - Corporate M&A and ECMLocation: LondonSalary: CompetitiveAbout the Company:An award-winning City law firm, the company is known for building lasting relationships with public and private sector clients. Committed to providing the highest quality of service, the firm enables its people to achieve professional fulfilment in a supportive,inclusive, and enjoyable working environment.Role Overview:The Knowledge Counsel role involves collaborating with a senior Knowledge Counsel in the Corporate M&A and ECM team, working closely with knowledge lawyers across the Corporate team and firmwide. The primary focus is on collation and publication of knowledgeresources spanning company law topics, with a particular emphasis on public companies (including ECM, public takeovers, and corporate governance). The role encompasses both internal and client-facing activities such as thought leadership publications, briefings,and tailored training. It represents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to help take the departments know-how function to new heights.Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ongoing monitoring of developments and horizon-scanning.
  2. Supporting the collation of departmental know-how, including capturing know-how from recent transactions.
  3. Dealing with queries from fee earners at all levels, from partner to trainee, both within and outside the department.
  4. Creating and updating precedents in response to current market trends, legal/regulatory changes, and feedback from client matters.
  5. Organising and/or delivering training programmes, as well as ad hoc training sessions, to various audiences.
  6. Curating internal knowledge resources and identifying content appropriate for sharing more widely on a need-to-know basis.
  7. Contributing to cross-practice knowledge-sharing initiatives and groups on topics such as ESG and asset management.
  8. Building and maintaining the external profile of the department as knowledge leaders in the field.
  9. Briefing partners in advance of CLLS /Law Society Company Law Committee meetings.
  10. Collaborating with knowledge colleagues from other City law firms via networking groups.
  11. Attending webinars hosted by regulatory and industry bodies.
Personal Specification - Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • At least 5 years PQE and high-quality fee earning experience at a leading City firm (in particular, in public M&A and/or ECM). Knowledge experience may be beneficial but is not a pre-requisite.
  • A first-class technical lawyer who can keep pace with fast-moving legal and regulatory change and intuitively understand its impact on our practice and our clients.
  • Sound understanding of: Listing Rules, Prospectus Regulation Rules, DTRs, AIM Rules, Corporate governance guidelines, including UK Corporate Governance Code and industry guidelines, Takeover Code.
