This is the job We are looking for a Key Assist Technician to contribute to the effective operation and commercial benefit of AA business by providing a comprehensive vehicle opening, key cutting and vehicle programming service to AA members and business customers/organisations.The successful candidate will provide advice and assistance within own area of competence, ensuring that in other cases where AA members or potential customers require assistance they are directed to the appropriate AA service or department.Promote the AA and its services by projecting an efficient and professional image at all times.Maximise income generation through effective selling of the service to business customers and relevant companies/organisations. What will I be doing

  • Undertake to a high standard effective vehicle opening, key cutting and vehicle programming services on all types and age of vehicle.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge in the field of automotive security systems ensuring that all equipment tooling and programming software can be used in an efficient and correct manner.
  • Keep abreast of technological and safety developments as they affect the diagnosis and repair of motor vehicles by maintaining an appropriate awareness of information circulated.
  • Be fully conversant with all communication systems used within the Key Assist operation and ensure that all communication is maintained in a professional standard to both internal colleagues and customers.
  • Generate additional sales opportunities for vehicle unlocking, key cutting and vehicle programming to ensure that income generation and productivity targets are met and exceeded.
  • Maintain accurate records of all jobs undertaken and ensure compliance with all laid down procedures to enable correct billing of customers and subsequent audits.
  • Ensure all stock relating to keys, transponders and other security devices for automotive vehicles is maintained and accounted for.
  • Ensure Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) is embedded in the culture of the AA to deliver the six customer outcomes of right culture, right information, right delivery, right targeting, right advice, and right post sales treatment.
What do I need Capability, Knowledge and Experience:A high level of experience, skill and knowledge in both the automotive locksmith and general locksmith industry. Working within an automotive/general locksmith environment for at least 5 years.Good general standard of education - Mathematics and English essentialBasic knowledge of motoring law and ability to give evidence in court as required.Must maintain a driving licence.Must undertake and have clear CRB checks on a regular basis.Personal Characteristics:Natural aptitude for delivering excellent levels of customer service and the ability to deal with the general public using tact diplomacy and humour where appropriate. Additional Information Special ConditionsThe provision of automotive (and general) locksmithing and vehicle security services requires an individual to have a high degree of skill in both manual dexterity and also in the use of bespoke electronic equipment and programming software. This area oftechnology is constantly evolving to ensure that vehicle security systems are as robust as possible, likewise it is essential that the technician is capable of keeping abreast of any changes in this technology.Shift working, including weekends and Bank Holidays.Working in an environment which the technician will require to assess the potential dangers and risks and take steps to minimise fully any such risks when unlocking vehicles, cutting keys or programming vehicle security systems.Working without direct supervision
