Job Description

Java Developer (Software Engineer Java 17 Data Enterprise Engineering Developer Programmer AWS GCP Python Agile Pandas NumPy SciPy Spark Dremio Apache Iceburg Arro DBT gRPC protobuf TypeScript Manager Finance Trading Front Office Investment Banking AssetManager Financial Services) required by my asset management client in London.You MUST have the following:

  • Advanced ability as a Java Developer/Software Engineer/Programmer
  • Experience building systems that work with vast number of data sets at an enterprise level
  • Good AWS or GCP
  • A foundation in Python as a minimum
  • Agile
  • A strong desire to be up to date with technology
The following is DESIRABLE, not essential:
  • Spark, Dremio, Apache Iceberg, Arrow, DBT
  • gRPC

Role: Java Developer (Software Engineer Java 17 Data Enterprise Engineering Developer Programmer AWS GCP Python Agile Pandas NumPy SciPy Spark Dremio Apache Iceburg Arro DBT gRPC protobuf TypeScript Manager Finance Trading Front Office Investment BankingAsset Manager Financial Services) required by my asset management client in London. You will be working in a team of 8 spread over London and the US that are responsible for a range of cross-asset analytics tools. So far, this team has build products suchas a search engine to search for quant models; an analytics tools that uses data from quant models; analytics libraries and is now working on an analytics tool that aggregates positions data. They work with 60k data sets. The products are written in Java (17)with DropWizard. They also use gRPC, protobuf and Angular. Although, theyre moving to React. On the back end, they work with PostgreSQL. Java, with a little Python, in a data setting, is the priority here. Finance is desirable but not essential. As is anyfront end experience.The team is also looking to begin working with Spark, Dremio, Apache Iceberg, Arrow and DBT, although you do not need experience of these.Depending on your level of seniority, you will be mentoring junior team members and running smaller projects. You will also lead architecture and technical strategy.This is an excellent opportunity to enter finance without experience. Also, to work in finance but with modern technology. Everything is AWS hosted.The working from home policy is 1-2 days/week in the office.Salary: £130k - £160k + 20% Bonus + 10% Pension
