Job Description

IT Manager Contract - Hybrid (Central London)Contract:- 3 Months Possible extensionLocation:- 3 Days Central London based, 2 days HomeRate:- c300p/day inside IR35 via UmbrellaEnvironment:- IT Manager, Man Manager, Leader, IT Infrastructure, Azure, VMWare, vCloud, MS Server, MS Office, End User Support, Networks, Wireless, Aruba, Cisco, Office 365, Firewalls, Oracle, Great Plains, Service Desk,The role:-The IT Manager’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives. This individual will plan, coordinate, direct, and design IT-related activities of the organisation, as well as provide administrativedirection and support for daily operational activities of the IT department.The IT Manager will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organisation. This person will also define and implement IT policies,procedures, and best practices. Responsibilities Strategy & Planning

  • Lead IT Department operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organising and negotiating the allocation of resources
  • Planning, developing and implementing the ICT budget, obtaining competitive prices from suppliers, to ensure cost effectiveness
  • Formulating and implementing improvements to current business processes, which are in line with business objectives.
  • Adopt a best practice approach for both insourcing and out-sourcing aspects of both IT and Managed Services based on best practice from design, migration, deployment, run and manage SLA’s and business relationships.
Acquisition & Deployment
  • Benchmark, analyse, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Integrate the various Service Desk and IT systems, people and processes globally
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT Department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements enabling the company to benefit from cost-effective sourcing model.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the necessary ISO accreditations for data security management, whilst upholding the ethos of the standard, associated legislation, Company procedures and policies while adhering to GDPR requirements.
Operational Management
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services for both internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for ensuring scheduled upgrades, operating system patches and security backups of hardware and software systems are all carried out.
  • Work closely with Microsoft on our Azure Hybrid IT Strategy and Governance.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations, such as VM Ware, vCloud and Backup Platforms such as EMC Avamar.
  • Direct research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts.
  • Approve and oversee Projects and Project Portfolio.
  • Practice Asset Management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, quarterly and annual reviews, evaluation, sickness absence,and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure the team understand and follow the company quality and operating procedures.
  • Identify critical issues and resolve/escalate them appropriately to ensure timely and high-quality resolution.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the companies’ Group Executives, Department Heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities
  • Motivate the team to ensure service excellence is achieved such as, SLA agreements, punctuality updates to staff.
  • Managing crisis situations and acting as an escalation point for any complex technical hardware or software problems
  • Provide and present monthly reports on agreed measurements.
  • Monitor and control team expenditure.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Knoweldge and awareness of Microsoft Portfilio to support our Hybrid IT journey
  • Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including DBA, Exchange 2007/2010,Great Plains, Metrix, RDE, RMS, SAGE, SLX, SQL 2000 - 2008, Windows Server 2000-2008, Windows XP - 7
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including good networking and Cisco knowledge, excellent VMware and citrix technical knowledge.
  • Awareness of HPE Aruba and Fortinet Plaform an advatage.
  • Extensive application support experience.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Strong understanding of ISO suite of standards.
  • Change management skills

  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience of digitalisation
