Job Description

My client is a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through better education. This clear goal sees them work throughout the UK and overseas, partnering schools, leading on teacher training and support as well as devising innovativenew techniques and programmes.Always looking to challenge the status quo with new ideas and initiatives, the charity runs a number of ventures within its core business, acting as an incubator for fledgling programmes and start-ups.At present they are looking for an interim Finance Director to lead on this side of the business, alongside the management and final delivery stage of a major capital project.Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, key responsibilities will include:

  • Overall responsibility for all financial aspects of the charity’s core business functions and ventures.
  • Delivering and reporting on all finance elements of the capital project, internal and external.
  • Management of all loan agreements, cashflow workings and modelling for the completion of the capital build.
  • Present strategic and commercial financial insight on the incubated ventures to the Programme Board.
  • Embed a true team culture within the finance unit, ensuring balanced workloads, personal development and colleague engagement are at the highest levels.
This is a truly unique and exciting role with responsibilities across all the different ventures as well as the high-profile capital project.The successful candidate will be fully qualified and have previously operated at a similar senior level within a complex business structure. Previous sector experience is not essential although knowledge of managing loan facilities or major capital buildprojects would be advantageous.You will be excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic and ambitious organisation, able to manage multiple priorities and be ready to use your skills across a range of ventures.This role has been assessed as inside of IR35. My client operates a flexible hybrid working policy, with 2 days a week in their London office.
