Job Description

Position: Interaction DesignerCompany: The Money & Pensions ServiceLocation: Hybrid/London (on site 2 days p/w)Contract: 2 year FTCSalary: Up to £57k p/a"This is an exciting time to work in the Pensions Dashboard Programme (PDP) at Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), which has been formed to make Pensions Dashboards a reality for people in the UK. We’re creating something that will change thepensions landscape and the experiences people have with their pensions.The Purpose of the RoleThe Pensions Dashboard Programme is completing its work on delivering the technical solution that will enable dashboards and is preparing to connect pension providers and schemes to the dashboards ecosystem. Working within the digital design and deliveryteam and other parts of the programme, the interaction designer will play a critical role in shaping the user experience of dashboard services through building prototypes for User Research.Key Responsibilities

  • Using Agile working, understanding of user profiles and research skills to inform the user experience of different aspects of dashboards
  • Working with the service team and external suppliers to design and create workable prototypes for dashboard services
  • Acting as an advocate for the work of your team across the programme and helping other teams to maintain a focus on delivery
Skills and ExperienceEssential
  • Experience of Agile methods and knowledge of how to apply these to a government digital project
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, simplifying complex information
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a team and across an organisation
  • Understanding of how technology and the digital economy is changing user behaviour and the government landscape
  • Strong knowledge of using evidence and logical thinking to solving problems
  • Ability to move from analysis to synthesis or design intent (or both)
  • Leadership skills, and the confidence to work with other teams to resolve technical disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk
  • Can apply technical knowledge and experience to create or design workable prototypes. You can prototype in code (not production-ready code). You can understand security, accessibility and version control
  • Experience of incorporating an organisation’s strategic goals into your work, and ability to determine patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements
  • Excellent ability to apply technical knowledge to creating or designing workable prototypes, and the ability to prototype in code
  • Understanding of users and skills to identify who they are and what their needs are, based on evidence. You can translate user stories and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs. You can show that you put users first and manage competingpriorities
  • Experience of working within and challenging constraints to achieve goals
  • An understanding of the pensions and financial services sector and relevant landscape
Desirable
  • Experience of central government and/or the wider public sector
  • Knowledge of dashboards policy and landscape
  • Political sensitivity and understanding of the position of a non-ministerial government department within the wider government context
  • Experience working within Government Design Standards
