Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always openWhat you will be doingWe have an exciting opportunity for an ICA technician to join Thames Waters Strategic Pumping team in South London. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a frontline operations team and also to support the team on the delivery of various projects includingthe Tideway Tunnel.The role of this technician is to perform a range of ICA activities to ensure that all the plant and equipment associated with strategic pumping stations and trunk sewers in South London are kept serviceable and ready to be operated safely and efficiently.Duties include:

  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team, alongside a range of operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians
  • Installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, and to diagnose and repair faults on systems and plants. Proactively identifying and reporting follow on work or areas for enhancement and delivering cost-effective improvementsto assets and systems.
  • Investigation into plant failures and the implementation of subsequent repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible
  • You will be responsible for providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge
What we are looking for:
  • Experience with PLCs and SCADA systems and communication network systems, instrumentation including flow, level, pressure, etc
  • Experience with variable speed drives (VSDs)
  • Ex areas and installations
  • Experience with reading and fault finding from circuit diagrams
  • Ideally, you will be qualified to HNC level or otherwise will have City and Guilds Part 2 or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical subject
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training
  • The standard working week starts at 7.30 am and finishes at 3.36 pm, Monday to Friday. However, in order to maintain storm cover, the Pumping Teamwork on standby working pattern on a six-week rotation basis, ensuring that London is provided with 24/7 stormprotection
  • The role, therefore, requires the technician to be on the standby roster
  • A UK drivers licence is essential
