Robert Half Technology are assisting a market leading MSP specialising in the financial services sector to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer on a 6 month contract - £375-£475 per day (outside IR35) - hybrid working - central London basedRole

• The Infrastructure Engineer will develop and administers the configuration and ongoing operational integrity of key enterprise wide production platforms and processes. Leads global server and storage architecture development with a focus on improving availability,performance and business continuity of the production systems and services.
• Responsible to provide timely troubleshooting support for infrastructure with primary oversight responsibilities of key third party vendors. Drives improved operational uptime standards providing for highly available server and storage environments.
• Leads multiple projects as a subject matter expert in support of servers, storage (file services & backup), virtualization and converged solutions and technologies. Participates in product evaluations and works closely with project managers, architectsand engineers in support of timely systems deployments.
• Benchmarks, evaluates and makes recommendations for the selection of software and hardware products.
• Works closely with the project teams to ensure that equipment ordering and associated deliveries are consistent with the delivery and financial plans.
• Leverages vendor 3rd party relationships to assist with vetting and proofing architectures and designs, as well as performing infrastructure assessments, providing support for escalated service issues and providing guidance for technology roadmaps.
• Provides critical support for operations management of related services at various enterprise layers - Microsoft, VMWare, Business Continuity Technologies, Storage, HP, etc.
• Develops budgets and hardware/software ordering specifications. Analysis of vendor costs and develops infrastructure ROI as appropriate in support of budget exercises

Profile

• The Infrastructure Engineer will have a proven advanced work experience with: Windows 2008/12/16, Active Directory Service 2008/12, VMWare 5.X, 6.X, SQL Server, Always On Availability Groups, Internet Information Server (IIS), SSO, SAML, DFS-n, TCP/IP,DNS, PKI, Scripting (Powershell), SAN Technologies - EMC Unity, Dell Compellent, Azure/cloud solutions.
• Strong Azure experience

• Experience in designing and administering enterprise-wide solutions; working with and managing third party vendors and consultant arrangements in support of projects.
• Key performance measures will consider: quality, complexity and quantity of projects supported, level of interaction with operations management teams, staff training programs, management reporting, strategic planning focus, identifying new technologiesthat can be deployed, identification and adoption of best practices, level and quality of operational support provided, development and adherence to capital budgets, delivery of initiatives on time and teamwork demonstrated.
• Knowledge in Cisco and other leading networking system products.Experienced recommending & implementing cost effective enhancements for optimal capacity and performance of network environments.Possesses skills and knowledge related to network, operatingsystems, Hypervisor, Storage Area Network (SAN), cloud and tape backup solutions.Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong systems troubleshooting skills.
