Job Description

Housing Advisor

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Tower Hamlets area
  • Candidates must be able to write robust s184 notification letters and other notices inline with the HRA 2018
  • Basic DBS required
  • £22.19 PAYE / £28.50 Umbrella
A vacancy has come up in the Housing Advise Team.The post holder must be an experience Housing Caseworker and Advisor who has worked with private sector residents and landlords, focusing on preventing homelessness and giving good quality advice on the potential avenues to resolve problems Successful postholder will give advise on all matters relating to landlord and tenant disputes and to negotiate with landlords to prevent homelessness and provide practical assistance to help customers remain in their accommodation or move to alternative accommodation therebypreventing homelessness.The musts:A detailed understanding of the law in relation to:-
  • Assured Shorthold tenancies;
  • Assured tenancies;
  • Rent Act tenancies;
  • Excluded & non-excluded tenancies;
  • Sub-tenancies and licences;
Including:-
  • How they are created;
  • The security of tenure they provide;
  • Rights to repairs;
  • Protection from harassment and unlawful eviction;
  • How possession may be recovered; Notices to be served;
  • Deposit protection where applicable; and
  • Rules in relation to the terms of the tenancy.
A good knowledge of the Leasehold Reform ActAn understanding of the benefit cap,Universal credit, rules in relation to local housing allowance and housing benefit.Experience of working in a Local Authority or RSL setting in a housing spherePlease apply now!
