Health Care Assistant - Domiciliary CareLocation: South LondonSalary: £8.5 - £10.55 ph, DOEContract: Zero hours contractHours: Full Time, Part Time, Flexible Hours to suitYouth Graces (UK) Ltd is an established provider of Domiciliary Care; we are registered by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).The core service of Youth Graces LTD is to provide a safe and secure personalised care, home care, domestic assistance and short break services for our service user. We identify suitable skilled and experienced Health Care Assistants who are able to meet your care support requirements.We are inspired by our passion hence we have established our organisation to enable people with disabilities.About the Role:To provide a Service of Care to service users within their own home to enable them to lead as independent a lifestyle as possible. The Care Services may involve a programme of assisting clients with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and toileting, performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming and changing bed linens and assisting in the safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of clients.We currently work across 4 boroughs and we have vacancies across Lambeth, Southwark, Bromley & Bexley.Responsibilities:Care duties will include assisting the service user with the following activities and in so doing will always observe and respect the service users’ dignity, privacy and independence as far as practical:1.1) Personal Care:• Dressing and undressing / preparing the service user for Day Care or trips out.• Washing / bathing / showering / shaving / grooming / cleaning teeth.• Hair care (washing / brushing).• Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.• Continence management.• Care of pressure sores (under appropriate nursing supervision).• Getting in and out of bed.• Assisting with the use of Aids to Daily Living / Rehabilitation Aids, as required.• Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by Healthcare professionals.1.2) Healthcare - assisting the service user to take prescribed medication.1.3) Dietary Care:• Preparation of snacks and meals according to the service user’s likes / dislikes.• Assisting with feeding, as required.1.4) Domestic / Household Services:• General cleaning duties, to include cleaning / dusting / vacuuming / polishing.• Bed-making.• Clearing refuse and rubbish.• Laundering / Handwashing / Ironing / Light needlework, as required.• Fuel Management.• Shopping, and the preparation of shopping lists and assistance with budgeting.• Light gardening tasks (subject to previous agreement at the Care Plan stage).1.5) Personal services:• Assistance with personal finances, to include paying bills, collecting pensions.• Personal planning (birthdays / anniversaries etc)• Democratic rights (voting cards etc).2) To conform to all Policies and Procedures laid down by the Organisation in respect of carrying out these Care Duties and in other administrative aspects of the business, as relevant.3) To participate as directed by the Domiciliary Care Services Manager / Supervisor in Induction Training and regular In-service Training programmes.4) To maintain accurate, concise and timely records of service user care, diary sheets, time sheets and mileage sheets.5) To participate in Staff, Team and Quality Management Review Meetings as directed by the Domiciliary Care Services Manager / Supervisor.6) To report back to the Domiciliary Care Services Manager / Supervisor on any aspect of service user care which he / she feels warrants investigation or urgent action.About You - Personal Specification:• Previous experience of caring for people within their own environment.• Able to undertake appropriate training in order to achieve NVQ Level 2 Care Standard and develop to NVQ Level 3 Care• Able to support individual and provide high standards of care• An attitude towards others based on respect, dignity and equality• Willing to meet the needs of clients according to individual care plans and in a manner appropriate to their lifestyle• Effective verbal and written skills• Able to maintain and develop professional relations.• Working knowledge of the Domiciliary Care sector, home care and surrounding regulations and legislation.• A clear understanding of issues relating to elderly, infirm or those with special needs.• Good planning and organisational skills.• Ability to work along or as a team member.• Ability to deal with challenging situations.• Able to work flexible hours including some evenings, Bank Holidays and weekends.• Car owner and driver with clean driving licence - preferred but not essential.• Able to work flexible hours including some evenings, Bank Holidays and weekends.• Car owner and driver with clean driving licence - preferred but not essential.This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience to be successful in this role click on "APPLY" today, forwarding an up to date copy of your CV for consideration in the first instance.No agencies please.
