Job Description

Our client is a leading International Integrated Energy Trading Company; a trader of Commodity and Energy products including Crude and Oil Products, Gas, Power, and LNG.This role is part of the Finance Department and reports directly into the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will be an experienced manager, able to lead and mentor a large team and have sound financial management skills and experience in Settlements,ideally within an Oil major, Energy/Commodity trading house, Commodity bank or similar.PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a key manager in the Finance Department, contribute fully to the coordination among front, middle and back office (i.e., trading dept., risk control, legal, compliance, shipping and other back office) in relation with financial decisions within the organisation.
  • Build and strengthen relationships not only with Front and Middle offices but also with Treasury, Credit, Tax and Accounting teams within the Finance Department.
  • Review and monitor performance of the settlements function, employing and improving key performance indicators to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Set goals for the team and ensure all staff have performance contracts that align with Finance and team goals. Ensure each member of the team understands the goals, as well as how they are expected to contribute to achieving them.
  • Liaising with traders and operators to resolve disputes and ensure accurate and timely payments and receipts.
  • Develop, improve, and implement the control procedures and processes across the Settlements function. Maintain and strengthen the settlements control structure to ensure compliant operations while upgrading the service offering.
  • Actively identify system opportunities to streamline activity to drive efficiency without compromising control. Conduct the leading and management of the implementation of such enhancements be they to ETRM, SAP or other settlement related system.
  • Have a very good understanding about the accounting package (SAP). Very experienced in month-end closing from Settlements perspective.
  • To review both Physical Oil and Gas settlements including contract terms review, due date control, pricing and billing from ETRM system and SAP.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Degree in Finance/Banking/Commercial/Maritime Studies (or equivalent).
  • Proved managerial skills and leadership.
  • Sound financial management skills.
  • Settlement experience.
  • Excellent team working and networking skills.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, positive and proactive.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and trading/accounting system.
