Job Description

A global, cancer prevention charity based in Central London are currently seeking a Head of Research Interpretation. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of the charitys Continuous Update Project (CUP). You will lead the implementation of the next phase of the CUP, supported by a dedicated Secretariat. You will also contribute to other projects such as ensuring that the charitys network has the latest global cancer statistics, including new estimates of the preventability of cancer.Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of the new phase of the CUP, according to the strategy developed by the Secretariat
  • Ensure that regular outputs from the CUP are produced and available on the charitys International website. Contribute to writing reports and journal articles as required
  • Working closely with the CUP Principal Investigators and team at Imperial College London
  • Manage all aspects of monthly Secretariat meetings, chairing the meetings
  • Oversee the development of journal publications from CUP outputs
  • Oversee the development of cancer statistics including new estimates of preventability of cancer
  • Provide scientific support to other organisations in the network
  • Oversee monitoring of the impact of the CUP
  • Review and progress work to make the CUP database available to scientists and researchers
  • Lead on/contribute to the charitys presence at international conferences and other activities and events
  • Lead, motivate, support and manage two direct reports, including ongoing development, review and management of performance
  • Person specification
  • PhD degree in relevant subject and at least 3 years postdoctoral experience in a relevant area such as nutrition, cancer, epidemiology, public health
  • Experience of line managing and developing staff
  • Significant experience of successful project management and evaluation
  • Understanding of evidence synthesis and proven experience in systematic reviews and meta-analysis
  • Experience of contributing to strategy development and implementation
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, foster and develop strong working relationships within and outside the charity
  • Experience of writing scientific papers and presenting to scientific audiences
  • Experience of participating in and/or contributing to scientific committees
  • Experience of budget planning and monitoring
  • Proven experience of working with administrative systems
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a busy environment, effectively managing multiple projects at any one time
