Role OverviewWe are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, and driven individual to run our Central Government Programme, a core pillar of our Public Sector work. By providingexpertise and insight, we support our members, partners, and stakeholders as they prepare the UK for what comes next in a constantly changing world.Central Government Programme OverviewtechUKs Central Government Programme represents the supplier communityto the public sector, and aims to lead debate on new technologies, optimise use of existing capabilities and provide a forum for central government departments to engage with industry. The programme represents the views of our member companies working witha range of government departments and agencies to transform the delivery of public and private services.PurposeThis role reports to techUKs Director of Markets and its purpose is to lead techUKs Central Government programme, and be a senior and high-profilevoice for our wider public sector work.This challenging and wide-ranging position provides an opportunity to work with senior level representatives from industry and Government to support the development and implementation of a major programme of work aroundpublic sector transformation. The Central Government team covers one of techUKs most high-profile and busiest agendas.The Head of Programme is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the programme, working to create the right conditions for Governmentto become the most intelligent client for technology possible, and helping our members understand Government requirements so they are in the best position to supply tech to departments.The role involves helping techUK shape and inform Government technologyand procurement strategies and policies, as well as working with individual departments and agencies on market engagement activities.The role will require you to deliver against a range of financial and performance targets (including membership growth andretention, income management and the management and development of a team of talented professionals) and to manage a complex workload with competing demands.Key Responsibilities Be accountable for the development and delivery of a strategically aligned annualplan that reflects the priorities and needs of techUK members in the central Government market. Present techUK as the voice of the technology industry to Government Departments and key stakeholders. Build and maintain senior relationships with Commercial andDDaT leaders across Central Government. Become a senior leader for techUKs wider agenda around public services transformation. Oversee the publication of reports, thought leadership, newsletters and briefings and the organisation of a series of events andactivities in support of the annual plan. Achieve annual financial targets. Be the public face of techUKs Government work. Liaise with other techUK teams to identify and exploit cross-fertilisation opportunities with other programmes within techUK; Run keyBoards and Working Groups such as techUKs Public Services Board and Central Government Council. Manage and develop a talented team to ensure the successful delivery of the programme and help staff reach their full potential.Competencies A self-motivated individualwho is comfortable working with competing demands and responding to tight deadlines and can operate with a good degree of autonomy. An effective and motivational manager. A team player who is comfortable and able to work with relevant teams across techUK Stronginterpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and policy information effectively to a range of audiences. Comfortable with public speaking. Able to articulate, explain and sell the benefitsof techUK to a range of audiences from government to potential new members.Person SpecificationEssential Knowledge Experience of managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and comfortable working with senior individuals in industry Stronginterest in Central Government transformation, govtech, and public sector procurement. A track record of building and maintaining strategic relationships across Government and industry.Desired Knowledge Strong understanding of the key issues and current stakeholderlandscape of public sector tech. Strong understanding of public sector procurement and the value of market engagement. Demonstrates an understanding of the positioning and role of trade bodies. Comfortable with and has experience of working with board levelexecutives Can demonstrate a track record of hitting financial targets. Understand the economic, social and political environment, members business sectors and business models, stakeholders and their drivers. Strong interest in the UK tech sector and ourmission to make the UK good for tech, make tech good for the UK and make tech good for people and the planet.
