It is an exciting time to join Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation as our new Head of Governance and Risk. The organisations merged at the beginning of 2020 and a significant amount of integration work has taken place. We have bold ambitions, andwe are looking for a governance and risk professional to join us and support the organisation as we implement a new strategy and continue to evolve.One person in five in the UK is affected by lung disease. As the only UK charity for people affected by alllung and respiratory diseases - from mild asthma through to lung cancer - the Asthma UK-British Lung Foundation is here for every one of them. We provide support, fund vital research, and campaign for better prevention, treatment and care.You will be reportingto the Chief Operating Officer but will work closely with staff at all levels of the organisation including the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of department. We have a culture of effective cross-organisational working, so you willbe exposed to all areas of the business. It is a high profile role, and we are looking for a strong and engaging communicator and facilitator.You will continue to develop our risk management framework and build a positive culture of compliance within our legaland regulatory responsibilities, implementing an appropriate assurance process. This will include procuring an outsourced internal auditor to provide additional independent assurance over key areas of risk to our Trustees and Executive Team.
