Job Description

Were working closely withan OFSTED outstanding institution, to bring onboard astrategic and highly effective Head of Finance to join their team. This senior role is pivotal in providing leadership and management of all aspects of finance withinthe school and the upcoming federation. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving continual improvement and enhancing financial management and infrastructure.Key responsibilitiesof the Role:

  • To maintain accurate financial records by ensuring accurate inputting of invoices, petty cash receipts and other items as required into the school accounts software package by the Senior Finance Officer.
  • Oversee creation of payment records for electronic upload, ensuring all necessary checks and authorisations are made.
  • Run twice weekly BACS payment runs and ensure accuracy of all electronic payments, preparing packs for SBM and Headteacher to authorise. Send remittances by email.
  • Lead and direct the finance team, Head of Premises, and Head of Kitchen.
  • Make strategic decisions to ensure the smooth running of the school and the development of the new federation.
  • Oversee a wide range of activities, ensuring financial stability and efficiency.
  • Support the school in attaining its aims and objectives through astute financial management.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and governors, to foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of excellence in leading a finance team.
  • Suitable financial qualifications or several years of proven financial experience.
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to oversee a wide range of activities.
  • Experience in financial management within the educational sector is beneficial but not essential.
  • Commitment to the vision and values of the school.

  • Openness to new ideas and initiatives.
