Role OverviewGroup Treasury develops and administers policy for the all treasury matters, centralises and manages financial risk, and manages the liquidity for the Group. The department is also responsible for the management and administration of internal structural andshort-term funding. Group Treasury develops and implements the Groups external financing programme, including the Groups GBP2bn EMTN Programme, the Groups bond portfolio and its revolving credit facilities. This role is a key bridge between Corporate functions and regional functional teams, assisting with the implementation of Group policies, process improvements and enhanced visibility within the Group. Role ResponsibilitiesThe Group Assistant Treasurer role includes responsibilities across the spectrum of treasury issues, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Assisting / Deputising for the Group Treasurer, when necessary, in senior management forums and committees, including Risk, Compliance and Change Management
  • Management and oversight of various Treasury tasks including:
    • Financial Risk Management - Execution and oversight of FX and Interest Rate Risk management. Understanding of transactional and translational exposures and how they drive strategy
    • Cash Management - Oversight of cash forecasting, intercompany cash-pooling, credit facility utilisation and lender payments.
    • Cash optimisation - Credit risk, yield enhancement and liquidity response
    • Working Capital Management
    • Borrowing Facility Management - Renewal negotiation, monitoring lender covenants, complete reporting and ensure general compliance with the lender credit agreement
    • Relationship Management - Banks, corporate advisors, auditors and market professionals
    • Development and oversight of treasury metrics, treasury KPIs and reporting
    • Management and reporting against policy compliance thresholds
  • Governance -Development and Documentation of Group Treasury policies, reporting to the Group Treasury Committee
  • Supporting Debt Capital Market activity - Funding strategy, negotiation and documentation
  • Oversight of and Liaison with the implementation team of the Treasury Management System
  • Business Support - Change Management, Operations oversight, and support of letters of credit and parental guarantees
  • M&A and Corporate Finance - Assist in the development of corporate financial strategy, and manage project delivery.
  • Treasury Projects:
    • Assist in setting the Treasury agenda
    • Such ad hoc treasury or corporate projects as may be required from time to time
Experience / CompetencesEssential
  • Managed corporate treasury matters in a multi-national group
  • Good understanding of corporate risk management techniques and products
  • Good understanding of accounting, accounting standards and treasury related taxation issues
  • Experience of executing corporate derivative transactions (e.g. forwards, swaps etc)
  • Understanding of financial markets and financial securities (specific financial services experience is not essential)
  • Experience of managing and mentoring people
  • Experience of working with Senior Leadership Teams, and external stakeholders explaining results and options for decision making with clarity and focus
  • Worked collaboratively across regions and cultures in a global business
  • Implemented Group Treasury strategies and policies across regions
  • Able to deal comfortably with multiple projects and requests in a fast changing environment
  • Well-developed IT skills: MS Office, Bloomberg, Reuters and exposure to Alteryx, PowerBI or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills (written reports and presentations) essential
  • Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills - proven ability to apply these skills to complex financial information
  • Strong attention to detail highly organised with a proactive approach
  • Hands on with a passion for delivering improvements
