Job Description

Are you based in Ealing, Harrow or Northolt and interested in working with special educational needs (SEN)Maybe you are a recent graduate, worked in care, or have personal 1:1 experience and are searching for a job where you can make a difference. We currently have multiple special needs teaching assistants positions available to start September 2020 in a Special Needs primary school in Ealing. The positions are across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 classes in both the school’s autism and complex needs departments.We are keen to appoint graduates, teaching assistants, care and support workers or those with experience supporting children. This is due to the complex needs of the children with some needing support with personal care and moving and handling.Children within the school have a range of needs including autism, sensory needs, speech difficulties and profound and complex needs including medical conditions. Particularly now after COVID-19 lockdown, the children will need caring and dedicated teaching assistants to support their development and education progress in school.The school is located local to both Greenford and Sudbury Hill Station in Ealing and has been rated by Ofsted as Outstanding (2020, 2012 and 2009) and renowned for their specialist training provided to staff and creative approach to learning.With virtual interviews to be held from the 1st July 2020 for successful SEN teaching assistants send you CV now to be considered.Location: EalingPay rate: GBP65 upwards (dependent on experience) Hours: 8:30 - 4:00pm Positions Available:

  • Full-time: KS2 Autism class, Early Years (EYFS) Autism class, mixed EYFS to KS2 Complex and profound needs class
  • Part-time: mixed EYFS to KS2 Autism class, KS1 and KS2 Complex and profound needs class
  • All special needs teaching assistants to ideally have experience in:
  • Working with children with severe learning difficulties including autism and challenging behaviours (sensory needs and aggressive)
  • Working with children with Profound and Multiple Learning difficulties (PMLD) such as medical conditions using PEG feeding, gastrofeeding etc
  • Understanding childhood development, e.g. early years’ experience, understanding developing children’s play skills, communication and understanding
  • PECs, Makaton, Objects of Reference, total communication or Team Teach training
  • Supporting with aspects of personal care (feeding, toileting, moving and handling, showering, changing, tooth brushing etc)
  • Supporting with therapy programmes (physio, speech & language, OT)
  • Understanding importance of consistency, routines, boundaries and structures in place
