Job Description

We’re looking for a dynamic, confident individual to join a global company at the forefront of maritime, aviation, government and enterprise satellite communications as an elite technical support specialist. Working in a small, collaborative team, you willact as the secondary and, on occasion, lead point of contact for end-users, manufacturers, service providers and distribution partners, as well as internal departments within the company. The role primarily involves identifying, sourcing and implementing solutionsrelating to the company’s suite of products and services, which includes user terminals, user set up, network and application-based calls and enquires.Ideally, you will need an understanding of Linux scripting and have grown you networking knowledge both academically and practically across a range of communications and technology. What makes you different is the passion and drive you demonstrate in takinga customers issues through to completion, exceeding expectations along the way. There is also scope to take on project management responsibilities as a team representative capable of communicating with, and coordinating, key internal stakeholders.Thus, a role with real substance!KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with customers to identify and diagnose hardware device, software application, system, and or network problems and advising on the solution
  • Logging and keeping records of customer issues and solutions to enable Business Improvement initiatives
  • Updating self-help documents so customers and colleagues can try to fix problems themselves
  • Testing and fixing faulty equipment
ESSENTIAL
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in communications / network engineering
  • IP data and circuit switched data/voice connectivity, ideally within the satellite communications or cellular sector
  • Current CCNA or experience equivalent
  • Mobile communications technologies such as Cellular Telephony, GSM, GPRS, 3G, UMTS
  • A basic knowledge of Linux scripting
  • Experience of working in a shift pattern, ideally involving nights
  • Being able to decipher technically complex issues from a multicultural customer base
  • Excellent command of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Exceptional customer service skills - genuine love of problem solving and helping others
  • Display an adaptable and flexible approach in meeting a customer’s requirements, being creative, innovative and being prepared to go the extra mile in assisting customers with their queries
