Job Description

Main Purpose: As a Global Data Engineering Manager you will contribute to build and develop our enterprise data platform and related applications in a complex and demanding trading environment. The role will manage a global data engineering team responsible for the ingestion, management, and provision of market data, commodity related economic data, and commercial data for use by data scientists, traders, research analysts and operators. This presents an outstanding opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced commercial environment and play a pivotal role in a real-time, data-driven trading ecosystem. Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

  • 7 years+ experience in relevant roles
  • Financial market data ingestion, ETL / ELT pipeline development, data modelling and data provisioning
  • Advanced Python & SQL
  • Data quality management
  • AWS data stack
  • Experience with data related to energy and metals commodities, power generation, weather data or shipping would be a plus
Key Responsibilities
  • Management of a global team of data engineers
  • Management and ongoing development of an enterprise data platform built on AWS
  • Development of new data products and services for commercial and operational teams

Key Relationships and Department Overview: Key Relationships
  • Report to Data Science and Engineering Head of Engineering
  • Work closely with trading technology application teams
  • Work closely with senior data scientists, data engineers, research analysts, and traders in a highly commercial environment
Reporting StructureReporting directly to Data Science and Engineering Head of Engineering DepartmentThe Data Science and Engineering team researches, develops and provides advanced analytics and enterprise data services to the trading business and other commercial operations at Trafigura. It is comprised of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and QuantitativeFinance experts. It is a commercially driven, front office aligned team, that works in close partnership with the trading desks, global research and enterprise technology.
