LOIM has a unique approach, combining the best of alternative and traditional asset management to offer itsclients and prospects a diversified range of investment solutions, including a number of new and innovative approaches based around our commitment to sustainability.We are looking for aQuantitative Analystto join ourSustainable Investment Research & Strategyteam,which is split between our London and Geneva offices, so its up to you where youd like to be based.Primary responsibilities:Your main focus will be on research forthe development of toolsto inform our financial decisions in relation toclimate and nature-relatedrisks and opportunities. This will include working closely with our geospatial analyst indata collection and modellingas well as statistical analysis focusing on data relatedto biodiversity, deforestation, greenhouse gas emissionsand other environmentaland social impacts.To break that down a little: youll undertake quantitative and qualitative research aimed at detailing majormegatrends surrounding natural capitaland their financial impacts on industries and business. This includestranslating the exposureto these risks into financial indicators, such as value at risk (VaR) and expected annual losses due to increasing occurrences of heatwaves, droughts, hurricanes, etc., as well as integratingalternative data into our database of geospatial intelligenceandits broader value chain.With this information, youll develop tools and frameworks to support analysts engagement with companies, with the aim of improving data collection methods and our ability to assess exposure to climate change and other megatrends.And in order to do that, youll articulate, demonstrate and present the implications of your research internally and externally, focusing on the ability of this analysis to inform financial decisions.Desired profile:So thats what were looking for someoneto do. In order to be our someone, youll have dynamite analytical and numerical skills as well as the creativity to build fresh insights from raw data and the global trends you notice within. Youll need to be either educated to masters level, preferablyinenvironmental engineering, mathematics or computer science, or have equivalent professional experience. Either way youll certainly have experience in environmental modelling, whether through academic research or as a consultant (for example), which hasincluded GIS and remote-sensing tools and techniques such as Python and SQL as well as geospatial software such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GQIS, Google Earth Engine, or RStudio. Youre also an innate collaborator and clever communicator who thinks clearly andis brilliant under pressure. We work in English so fluent French isnt necessary, even if youre based in Geneva, but extra languages are always a bonus; on average the team speaks three apiece and were always looking for new ones to widen our scope.Finally,the reason this opportunity exists is our commitment to sustainability.
