Job Description

Fantastic opportunity for a financial services lawyer to join the London legal team of a US investment management firm which has a global footprint.My client, a global investment management firm, is looking for a financial services lawyer (ideally with FS Regulatory experience) to join its lean legal team in London. This is a permanent hire and the successful candidate will report directly into theLead European Counsel who is also based in London.The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day corporate and advisor legal and regulatory needs of the UK/European business, including UK, EEA, and Swiss law analysis and, Sales and Marketing, Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Risk andFinance related legal issues, while seeking consistency across the global firm.This position will interact extensively with personnel in the offices of the firms parent entity and other international entities. The candidate will be required to demonstrate discretion and judgement when providing legal counsel, planning and servicesto the firm, its affiliated entities, and its fund complexes.The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Researching, developing, preparing, and analysing issues related to a variety of legal documentation and policies, such as advisor registrations (e.g. in the UK and South Africa). Reviewing documentation for compliance with applicable multi-jurisdictionalregulatory law.
  • Reviewing and interpreting statutes, rules, and policies relevant to the regulatory functions of the firm, and its fund complexes and work with clients to meet their business objectives in the applicable regulatory environment.
  • Advising on and assisting with implementation of regulatory change as it relates to the firms business.
  • Preparing and, when requested, presenting materials, such as memoranda, agendas, and meeting minutes for internal meetings, committee meetings, or the meetings of the various Boards of the firm, its affiliated companies, or its fund complexes. Identifyinglegal issues and providing legal advice of importance to the Boards.
  • Assisting with client services issues relating to the UK business.
  • Negotiating contracts or deals with third party vendors, such as brokerage houses, service organizations, custodial banks, institutional clients, or external research services.
  • Liaising with internal clients, external counsel and the firms global legal team.
I am looking to speak with strong financial services lawyers (ideally 4+ PQE) from either top law firms or indeed leading financial services organisations and who have significant practice with international investments, financial services, securities regulatorywork, and investment adviser and/or mutual fund issues.Knowledge of FCA rules and European legislation (MiFID, UCITS, AIFMD, SFDR, CASS, Investment Stewardship, etc.) is highly desirable for this position.Please email me diretly at to arrange a confidential discussion about this exceptional position.
