The team/department The Strategic Finance team is responsible for delivering timely, accurate and insightful financial information as well as a high quality efficient and effective service to all our stakeholders, ensuring the FCA makes the correct decisions and makes best useof its resources.What you will be doing (the role) Leading in the production of timely and insightful management information and forecasts to senior leadership on total FCA spend, providing commentary to support decision-makingSupporting the financial planning aspect of annual Strategic and Financial Planning process working closely with Strategy to deliver a joined-up approach and outcomesLeading on delivery of the Operational Overview for the Annual Report and assisting on external audit preparationRegularly need to manage and interrogate large volumes of data using our Workday and Adaptive Insights Planning systems and be able to summarise back to finance and non-finance stakeholdersResponsible for improving the reporting to provide greater understanding of the existing cost base at the FCAProviding support to the Head of Department as required in delivering an effective Strategic Finance functionWorking collaboratively with colleagues within the wider Finance team to pursue a continuous improvement agenda, both with business processes and personal developmentWhat you will get from the role An opportunity to contribute to the approach for financial planning at the FCA, working collaboratively with StrategyUnderstand the financial management of the FCAs expenditure.Gaining exposure to a varied, intellectually challenging job in an increasingly important area of the FCADevelop your career through experience gained and mentoring/support from senior Finance colleaguesOur competitive flexible benefits scheme gives you the opportunity to create a personalised benefits package, tailored to suit your lifecycle. Part Qualified/Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)Experience of Financial Planning & Analysis, financial modelling and data analytical skillsEvidence of managing, communicating with and influencing senior stakeholdersEssential Experience of delivering accurate, timely and insightful management informationA strong communicator who engages with team members and stakeholders clearly and collaboratively, with the ability to explain financial reports clearly and succinctly to finance and non-finance colleagues alikeExcellent attention to detail: can demonstrate taking pride in work and ensuring it is of the highest standardProactive: able to work on own initiative to identify and resolve issues but exercises correct judgement on when to escalate or involve senior finance colleaguesAdvanced Excel and modelling skills with the ability to work with and manipulate large volumes of dataA continuous improvement mentality, with an ability to identify inefficiencies in systems/processes, identify and recommend options for improvement and deliver themFlexible workingWe welcome applications from candidates who are looking for flexible arrangements.
