Job Description

We are excited to be partnering again with a VC backed e-commerce company in London, recruiting an interim Financial Controller for a minimum of 3 months.The ideal candidate will be immediately available to start and has experience of running the day to day finance function without much oversight from the FD. They will ideally be qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). Preferably candidates will have worked in a retail/e-commerce environment with experience working with stock.The business is currently working remotely as a team. They are planning to gradually return to the office from September onwards, but have a policy that no one has to return to the office this year if they do not feel comfortable doing so. Prior to the pandemic, they already offered working-from-home opportunities and flexible working hours to help employees develop a healthy work-life balance, and this will continue to be their policy over the long-term.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare the monthly management accounts. Advise on and implement the company accounting policies and procedures and ensure that we always have in place the appropriate level of financial control. Close the month end quickly, and accurately report variances with insightful commentary.
  • Maintaining our accounts payable, and ensuring that suppliers and payments are made on a timely basis.
  • Own the company administration, ensuring payroll & pensions are processed, suppliers are paid on time.
  • Responsibility for tax and other regulatory compliance and submissions.
    • REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience with stock - preferably in apparel, but it could be any business with similar dynamics, e.g. consumer electronics or consumer retail.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA preferred).
  • You will have held responsibility in month-end process, reporting and annual audits, internal audit and controls in a retail business, preferably within e-commerce
  • You have either been an FC in a £5m+ revenue business or have had had full responsibility for accounting reporting and controls for a business or division with £5m+ revenues.
