For furtherinformation about Nomura, visit www.nomura.comDepartment overview:Control & Oversight is a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving team in EMEA Finance. The team consist of 10 individuals split across London and Powai, who identify, assess, monitor and manage the EMEA Finance Risk and Control Framework, ensuring controls andprocesses are adequately designed, monitored and implemented. The team has recently launched the Regulatory Governance Assurance area. This area of the team focuses on all Liquidity, Capital (CoRep), Financial (FinRep) and Prudential Valuation (Pru Val) Reporting,independently assessing the robustness and controls of the reporting process.Role description:Your main responsibilities will involve:Providing Regulatory Assurance

  • Perform independent Governance Assurance reviews across established and new Prudential Regulatory Reporting Returns
  • Test adjustment and control processes and perform process and system design reviews for a sample of Prudential Regulatory Reporting Returns
  • Provide second line review and challenge on Regulatory required attestations performed by the Finance Department (e.g. SEC/CFTC, CRDIV IMM and IMA).
Providing Financial Assurance
  • Provide independent validation of the Balance Sheet values, by performing Quality Assurance Reviews over the Balance Sheet Accounts Verification control
  • Prepare and present results and thematic observations from Balance Sheet Accounts Verification control to senior stakeholders
Operational Risk Oversight and Coordination
  • Use data analytics skills and tools to perform risk analysis and monitoring, including oversight of the RCSA (Risk and Control Self Assessment) process and continual enhancement of key Finance risk metrics.
  • Provide review and challenge over documented functional RCSA risk profiles
  • Perform controls testing over controls captured within functional RCSAs and assess their effectiveness in mitigating the associated risks.
  • Set up governance processes to proactively support EMEA Finance management in maintaining and strengthening the control environment.
Key Objectives critical to success:The key objective of this role is to proactively challenge and improve process and controls in a continually evolving environment. The EMEA Finance function is undergoing transformation and the ideal candidate will have hands on experience in designing,developing and testing controls supporting Regulatory deliverables.Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required
  • Chartered Accountant with Financial Services experience in operational risk management, financial control, audit, quality assurance, control management, or compliance.
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and understanding of accounts verification / balance sheet substantiation processes.
  • Understanding of regulatory and financial reporting requirements and outputs to enable interaction with all Regulatory Reporting teams (Liquidity; Capital, Financial and Prudential).
  • Understanding of risks, mitigating controls, and governance frameworks expected within a financial or regulatory reporting function.
  • A control mind-set is essential, together with superior analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible when required and work autonomously.
  • Self-starter, proactive big picture thinker
  • Excellent communication skills, tenacity and confidence to challenge
  • Good organisational skills; ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines
