Job Description

This role would Ideally suit a newly qualified Accountant looking to make their move from practice to industry, though candidates who have trained in industry could also be a good fit. This FTSE listed financial institution can offer the incoming Accountant plenty of opportunity for growth and progression.Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with the rest of the finance team for the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual financial deliverables. As the Financial Accountant you will be responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, interim / year-end packs, quarterly VAT returns and management of the Treasury Management system.Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and review key balance sheet reconciliations
  • Post journals on a monthly basis including appropriate challenge of backup provided
  • Investigation of key cost variances against the profit and loss forecast at month end
  • Own and prepare the quarterly VAT returns including liaising with our internal Tax team
  • Delivery of quarterly financial reporting (FINREP) and half yearly interim and year end pack to support the period closes
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors
  • Develop relationships with other Finance teams including, but not exclusively the Central FP&A team, Central project finance team, divisional consolidation team and business level Finance teams
  • Ongoing process review and improvement to maintain excellent financial control.
  • You will be responsible for managing the Assistant Financial Accountant, increasing their productivity and developing their performance through coaching, mentoring and supporting through regular feedback.
  • About You:
  • You must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Advanced IT skills (MS Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Evidence of taking ownership and adding value
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to influence and challenge others; effective at stakeholder management
  • An excellent communicator with an open and direct style
  • Experience managing junior team members
