Job Description

cer Financial are working alongside a bank who are based in the City of London, they are looking for a financial accountant to join them on a 6 month fixed term contract basis. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with tangible and demonstrablebanking or financial services experience.The Responsibilities of a Financial Accountant Will Include:

  • Lead a small team to deliver high quality outputs for the Bank, managing their day to day workflow; performance appraisal; and career development plans.
  • Ensure the financial reporting activities of the Bank operate within an effective control environment and manage risk-related processes relevant to the team.
  • Deliver on-time activities concerning the Banks month-end closing process and reporting to Head office.
  • Deliver the half-year and full-year group reporting packs, ensuring accuracy of output and adherence to review processes.
  • Deliver the annual financial statements and ensure an effective and issue-free external audit.
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual VAT returns.
  • Prepare and review the Banks Corporation Tax requirements.
  • Manage a horizon scanning and implementation process for developments in relevant developments affecting the Bank for both tax and accounting issues.
  • Assume responsibility for managing the Banks financial software including general ledger, financial statement production, FlexCube and other key systems.
  • Enhance and automate key manual processes as agreed with the Financial Controller.
  • Enhance review processes by delivering additional analysis to support management review of key outputs.
  • Collaborate with the Management Accountant to deliver management reporting to the Bank as necessary.
  • Assist the Regulatory Accountant with inputs and support on regulatory reporting.
The Successful Financial Accountant Will Have:
  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualified) and 3/4 years of relevant post-qualified experience
  • Strong understanding of IFRS standards
  • Microsoft Office Systems Knowledge especially Excel and Word
  • Processing & Procedural Knowledge
  • Project Management Techniques
