Job Description

Façade EngineerLondonUrgent requirement*Salary up to £40,000Ref MR602Our client specialises in providing on site façade consultancy services and has several openings currently available. These permanent positions will be well suited to individuals from a façade contractor background who have site-based experience of façades and have the academic background and willingness to progress to become a fully qualified façade engineer. Our client is offering progression from within and a healthy starting salary plus benefits.In order to be considered for this Façade Engineer role you will;

  • Have a minimum of four years working for a specialist façade contractor including experience of rainscreen.
  • As you will be writing technical reports your written English and grammar skills must be at the highest level.
  • An honours degree of minimum 2:2 in an engineering, built environment or architecture related subject are required in order to progress your career through the MSc course.
    • Working as a Façade Engineer you will;
  • Attend site to carry out an intrusive investigation to identify the materials used that form the façade. During this site attendance you will be working with a façade operative who will be present to remove samples of the materials as directed by you. You will be responsible for ensuring that samples taken are clearly identified with their locations as they may need to be sent for laboratory testing.
  • During site attendance you will make sufficient notes and sketches and take photographs to enable you to compile a comprehensive report on your return to the office for submission to the Client.
  • During site attendance you will also identify the type and location of cavity barriers and fire stops. You will also have an awareness of other factors that influence façade failure e.g. panel detachment, workmanship issues etc. Where factors present an immediate risk to health and safety you will bring these to the urgent attention of the Client.
  • You will work closely with an in-house Peer Group Leader to manage the Clients expectations both pre and post site visit.
  • You will ensure that work is completed on time and within budget. Where further services might be beneficial to the Client, you will liaise with your Peer Group Leader and the Commercial Team.
