A World Leading Global Energy Company has an exciting opportunity to join the Power Trading Operations team, in London.The role involves working weekends as part of a rota and an on-call rota to cover queries out of hours. There is no night shift. 12 Months Initial Contract with the potential to transition to a permanent role after a successful period.The candidate will be involved in the day-to-day management of the power activities, primarily in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain and Italy. This includes the opportunity to manage real-time exposure as the candidate executes trades on European Power Exchanges.As the power business is continually evolving and new markets and products are being developed and existing markets extended. The candidate will have the opportunity to pursue the companys commercial strategy through developing power operations.This requires liaising with grid operators, customers, traders, originators and other business functions to ensure operational risks are understood, effectively managed and new capabilities are developed in a robust and timely manner.Dimensions: Daily scheduling of European Power Grids and nominations Executing trades bilaterally and on Europes power Exchange Management of day ahead and intra-day cross-border capacities Nominating/dispatching generating assets Contact counterparties on a daily basis to check power positions and trades Advising supported traders on operational opportunities Participate in (and lead operational aspects of) change management projects as new business is activated and new grids/assets/counterparties are registered) Provide overviews of assets performance/outturn Work as part of the weekend rota. Requirements: Experience of at least one European power market - ideally UK and/or Germany, ideally with exposure to other markets Proven track record transacting binding orders on Exchanges/Trayport Familiar in the use of an ETRM system (ideally Aligne) Proficient English a must and at least one further European language desirable Self-motivated, with an aptitude for accurate problem solving in a very time critical environment Ability to work in a small-integrated team and express ideas articulately Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate a range of European markets Experience with scheduling software a plus Coding skills (e.g. Python) desirable but not essential
