As a Barclays Equity Derivatives Java Developer you will be joining well-established team in London and 100+ globally spread across London, New York, Prague, Pune, Hong Kong and Singapore. You will be developing and timely delivering of new and-or existingsoftware working with project managers, software engineers both internal and external to the work stream. You will be interacting with the end users from time to time to understand issues, feedback and incorporate the same in developing solutions. What will you be doing Developing and timely delivering of new and/or existing software working with project managers, software engineers both internal and external to the work stream Interacting with the end users from time to time to understand issues/feedback and incorporate the same in developing solutions Developing and timely delivering of new features and functionalities as well as enhancements to the core systems Participating on the architecture and design decisions as and when required Focusing on quality of code on regular basis Contributing to the continuous improvement of the processes and the system. Participating on production support as and when required Mentoring and supporting of junior colleagues as and when required What were looking for: Relevant experience in Java software development with strong core Java skills (Java 8, including: Generics, Collections, Multithreading, Input/Output, Streams and Java Database Connectivity). Ability to understand complex problems and translate them into solutions respecting Object Oriented Programming fundamentals. Knowledge of enterprise design patterns. Proficiency in writing unit tests. Proficiency in concepts and technologies supporting Java development/deployment: Spring, Maven, Protocol buffers, RESTful APIs, continuous integration, automated tests etc. Skills that will help you in the role: Knowledge of relational databases (ideally Oracle Database). Familiarity with messaging platforms such as MQ, Solace or Kafka, Linux shell and Python scripting. Knowledge of web front-end development using HTML5 and Angular 6+ or similar. Innovation mindset, well versed in the overall development lifecycle and relevant technologies and tools.
