Job Description

DescriptionAbout this roleEMEA COO Chief of StaffThe successful candidate will partner with the EMEA COO to drive completion of critical projects, prioritise their engagements and prepare materials for key events, as well as providing business management support for the EMEA COO. The role will involve close collaboration with the EMEA Exec, Client Business & Country COOs, Corporate Strategy, Finance, Risk and Legal & Compliance together with representatives from businesses across the EMEA region. The candidate should know how to navigate a matrix organization, operate in a highly resourceful manner and demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills. Interpersonal skills will be critically important to build strong relationships with peers anddevelop connectivity, as well as the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. The candidate will be well organised and have a highly critical eye for detail to ensure all commitments are delivered on behalf of the EMEA COO. In addition, they should be a strategic thinker who is capable of driving multiple initiatives forward simultaneously,using sound judgement to prioritise and multi-task where needed. Key Responsibilities Support the Chief Operating Officer of EMEA in all day-to-day operations including:

  • Execution of priorities:
    • Collaborate with regional, corporate and functional stakeholders to plan, maintain and drive strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include project planning, establishing governance, cross-functional coordination & communication on progress back to EMEACOO & stakeholders
    • Deliver ad hoc assignments initiated by the EMEA COO. Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick-turnaround projects with no natural home
    • When appropriate, oversee transfer of completed projects to businesses/functions
  • Communication
    • Serve as a key liaison between the EMEA COO and internal/external stakeholders acting as; point of escalation, sounding board & provider of advice/direction ensure efficient operations of the EMEA Exec
    • Prepare presentations, memos, talking points and speeches for the EMEA COO for internal management meetings, Boards, client presentations, regulatory engagement, industry conferences and town halls.
    • Execute on (or oversee) clear action items and commitments following meetings
    • Prepare the meeting agenda, prepare minutes and drive follow-up actions to ensure speedy completion for the EMEA Operating Committee (E20), Country COOs Meeting and other governance bodies as required for the region to operate effectively
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Partner with regional and functional leaders and COOs to help with cross-functional coordination, to resolve bottlenecks and to guide execution and drive accountability across the regions many businesses.
    • Proactively identify issues and challenges and offer potential solutions
    • Leverage technology to drive greater efficiency and to scale operations; bridging the gap between business requirements and technology solutions
  • Business Management Support
    • Work with data/MIS to support the day-to-day management of the region.
    • Ensure that business as usual needs are met, including shepherding corporate processes, audit issue resolution, etc.
  • Culture
    • Drive and implement cultural initiatives sponsored and supported by the EMEA COO.
Knowledge /Experience:
  • A track record of successful engagement and leadership on strategic projects
  • A strong contributor with the ability to remain calm under pressure and keen to roll up the sleeves to accomplish necessary tasks
  • Demonstrated work ethic, internalized drive and sense of urgency
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously liaising with colleagues at all levels
  • Exceptional process management skills with keen eye for detail
  • Analytical and inquisitive mindset with strong orientation towards learning and growth
  • Strong command of Microsoft suite including Excel, PowerPoint and Smartsheet. Power BI and other technology skills are not mandatory but would be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to distil most relevant insights from meetings / documents quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust-based relationships with peers, partners and senior colleagues effectively
