The Micro:bit Educational Foundation is looking for an Education Production Assistant to work in the education team on the production, curation and promotion of educational resources using the BBC micro:bit.This is a full time, permanent, role within the UK, this is a home-based role with a requirement for regular office-based collaborations in our Oxford office, when this becomes possible to do so, and for whole organisation meet-ups within the UK. (As a home-based role, expenses are available for requested travel).Reporting to the education content manager, specific responsibilities will include: writing news letters and blog posts aimed at teachers proof-reading, editing and publishing written and video educational materials online organising small focus groups or community groups of teachers co-ordinate contributors of educational content compiling monthly analytics from various sources liaising with other teams in the Micro:bit Educational Foundation and partner organisations responding to occasional support requests and enquiries promote the work of the Micro:bit Educational Foundation in seminars and at events as requiredGeneral skillsRequired Passion for communicating to an audience and collaborating with colleagues Interest in, or willingness to learn, about education and the teaching of computing, science, technology and different education systems in the UK and globally Ability to learn new collaborative and content creation tools quickly Excellent standard of written English and attention to detail Managing external contributions so that they are delivered in line with Foundation requirements and budget Ability to act as an ambassador for the Micro:bit Educational Foundation when dealing with external organisations and the public Ability to manage small focus groups, probably remotely, building professional engagement Belief in the Foundations mission to broaden participation in digital creativity and coding reaching more girls and more under-represented groupsDesirable Experience of working with educators or working directly in education (either primary or secondary) Knowledge of the BBC micro:bit and its role in educationSpecific SkillsRequired Copywriting: concise copy that is easy to translate Proof-reading and copy-editing Familiarity with basic principles of copyright and licensing The ability to manage the work of freelance / external authors of educational resources to ensure that what they deliver meets the Foundations aims, educational and technical frameworks and style guides for written EnglishDesirable Knowledge of common formats of educational resources and terminology used by teachers Familiarity with a website content management system Ability to edit existing campaigns in a mailing list management system such as Mailchimp with new copy and images Publishing videos on YouTube and editing subtitles Familiarity with different curriculums and education systems across the UK and beyond Use of any packages for remote working and collaboration across organisations, such as email, Dropbox, Zoom, Google Drive etc Basic analytics reporting from, for example, Google Analytics, YouTube, Mailchimp etc Basic image editing software - eg resizing images and artwork for publication on a website using software such as Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, Photoshop, Illustrator, GIMP or Inkscape Basic video editing software, e.g. iMovieAbout the Micro:bit Educational FoundationThe Micro:bit Educational Foundation is a UK-based not for profit organisation aiming to inspire every child to create their best digital future.Following in the footsteps of the pioneering BBC Micro in the 1980s, the project started in collaboration with the BBC in 2016.
