Job Description

We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Education Development and Building Projects Lead to provide detailed project management of all the individual education building projects in schools - being education client to the council property team and commissioner with Trusts and DfE project directors, managers, and their contractors withinour local government client based in London, UB8.The Education Development and Building Projects Lead will ensure all planned education, whether delivered by the council, Trusts, schools or the DfE are all progressing on time and to cost. They will coordinate updates and options basedon experience into the processes to support the delivery of the capital projects.They will manage project meetings and ensure notes are recorded in the overall education capital programmes log and systems and work with colleagues in the Place Planning team to understand the data and the aims of each project.Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Degree or building or project management qualification or equivalent through education construction project management experience.
  • Understanding and experience of applying DfE standards such as BB103 and BB104 in reviewing schools and planning adaptions, new schools, and SEN provision.
  • Experience of leading LA school place capital functions, ideally in London.
  • Experience working with many different academy trusts and foundation schools as well as a minority of community schools
  • Experience of contributing to free school bids, adaptations of schools and creation of places for pupils with special needs.
  • Experience supporting planning applications of schools, including on playing fields and in greenbelt.
  • Ability to work across a large borough, travelling as required to meetings and events, including occasionally in twilight/ evenings. Site meetings are needed as many were delayed due to Covid.
