Job Description

Unlock a high-visibility leadership opportunity as our Director of Capital Management, where youll play a crucial role in interpreting capital regulations and translating these into our Groups capital policies. By doing so, you will enable efficientand effective use of this scarce resource, working to keep the Group safe while also advancing our strategic objectives to enhance Return on Tangible Equity and provide value to our shareholders. This role is pivotal in the impending implementation of Basel 3.1. This transformative regulatory change allows you to make your mark on company-wide Basel 3.1 initiatives, fortifying our strategic vision and growth. As the leader of our Treasury Capitals engagement on Basel 3.1 initiatives, your voice and influence will be pivotal in crafting optimization strategies and integrating Basel 3.1 impacts into our Corporate Plan. Your hands-on involvement will encompass thecreation and execution of policies to manage and optimize capital under the new framework. Collaborating with colleagues across Risk, Finance, and our business units, youll be a key figure bridging central and regional teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Be our voice in industry and lobbying forums concerning capital management, ensuring our strategic objectives are well represented.
  • Conduct comprehensive impact assessments on new capital regulations and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in the Regulatory Interpretation Forum, enhancing our understanding of the regulatory landscape.
  • Foster capital subject matter expertise regarding Basel 3.1 and related optimization initiatives.
  • Work in harmony with stakeholders including Senior Management, Business, Financial Planning & Analysis, Risk, Regional Treasurers, and Stress Testing teams, fostering a holistic approach to regulatory change.
  • Improve efficiency by identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to refine our methods of operation.
  • Set a high bar for your team by exemplifying our core culture and values, and collaborating effectively with risk and control partners.
  • Oversee the Groups Regulatory Permissions and Waivers, coordinating prompt submissions to regulators.
  • Take responsibility for upholding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, in line with our Code of Conduct.
  • Lead in monitoring and active management of Non-Significant Holding limits.
  • Foster a supportive environment, promoting our Here for Good ethos, and upholding our Groups brand values in Treasury.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Holds a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or Risk Management.
  • Proven experience in the Financial Services industry, with a focus on Group Treasury and Capital Management, and knowledge of UK/European regulations.
  • Proficient in using MS Excel and PowerPoint to present and analyze data effectively.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, adept at conveying complex regulatory text and presenting clear messages to senior stakeholders.
  • Exhibits strong analytical skills, condensing large data sets into concise messaging for senior management.
  • Can thrive in a dynamic environment, handle fluid situations, and meet tight deadlines with a structured and focused approach.
