Job Description

This is a new and exciting Director of People role, requiring both strategic and operational expertise.You will be a critical member of the schools senior management team, playing a pivotal role in developing the strategic progress of the school.Client DetailsLeading Independent School.Description

  • To inspire and lead the HR department & operations of the School
  • To lead and continue to develop the Schools HR strategy for staff and their wellbeing, such that all staff feel valued and able to flourish in their roles
  • To lead on developing the profile of HR including staff awareness of HR policies and procedures and their impact on the effective running of the School
  • To provide strategic HR solutions on a variety of complex and sensitive HR issues including workforce and succession planning, recruitment and retention, data strategies and leadership development
  • Develop a reward and benefits policy which maximises employees contributions and enhances employees satisfaction
  • Work closely with the CFO to advise on aspects of remuneration, including salary surveys, job evaluations and benchmarking, review and implement relevant salary scales
  • To ensure there is effective staff development and training strategy for all staff which includes the development and delivery of management and coaching training
  • To cultivate interesting and constructive conversations and connections with staff and in the Schools wider community
  • To develop and build trusted working relationships with all staff
  • To lead on all aspects of recruitment, ensuring the best structures are in place for safer recruitment and the ability to attract the best people

  • Significant HR experience in leading a team
  • Excellent leadership skills: providing inspirational leadership, clarity, and consistency in approach and message
  • Track record in working in a senior team, and implementing people strategies and policies
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and good financial acumen
  • Confident, kind, discrete and act with integrity in all aspects of work

  • Demonstrates tact and understanding and the ability to support talented, dedicated and hard-working colleagues, empowering them to play to their strengths and progress professionally

Job OfferThe Director of People is a permanent position and predominately based on site. The role is offered on a full-time basis working all year round (including School holidays).The salary is very competitive with great benefits, including fee remission for any children attending the school.
