Job Description

This high-profile London based Charity is seeking to recruit an experienced qualified Accountant to join as Director of Finance, Property and Operations. Reporting to the Chief Executive you will be a key part of the Senior Leadership Team and oversee all aspects of the Charity’s Finance, Property and Operational matters.Applicants must be a fully qualified Accountant ACA, ACCA or CIMA or equivalent with minimum of 8 years post qual experience. A successful track record within a charity or within health, care or social care would be ideal and experience of asset and property management and leading a finance team is essential.KEY ASPECTS OF THE ROLE

  • Oversee Charity finance and operations
  • Management accounts
  • Invoicing and payments
  • Managing cash, investment holdings and other assets including property
  • Contracting with new suppliers, agreeing SLAs and ensuring compliance
  • Liaison with legal counsel
  • IT
  • Data protection
  • Company Secretary responsibilities
  • Scope, develop and deliver new operational offerings in line with Charity priorities
  • Report to colleagues and Trustees on finances and operations, including the development of robust KPIs and a trustee dashboard
  • Support the Finance and Asset Management Sub-Committees
  • Work closely with Fundraising colleagues to ensure the financial and compliance aspects of raising and using voluntary income are adhered to, including timely reporting to donors
  • Regularly review suppliers
  • Act as data protection lead, ensuring full GDPR compliance by all staff
  • Work with the Chief Executive, other members of the Senior Leadership Team to meet the wider priorities of the Charity
  • THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Extensive experience of finance and operations at a senior level, with a strong understanding of the charity sector
  • Ability to manage high volumes of varied work and operating to tight deadlines
  • Experience of leadership within an organisation which is seeking to build transformational growth, including responsibilities as part of the Senior Leadership Team and reporting at Board level
  • Experience of leading and line managing others to develop and grow and building and maintaining a high performing team culture
  • Experience of building relationships, and influence, with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • The role is heavily focused on customer service and is subject to high levels of confidentiality
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record in delivering operational success over the long term
  • Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of using finance systems and databases including Sharepoint 365
  • Knowledge of property management
  • Knowledge of developments and best practice within the third/charity sector
  • This role would suit a results-driven finance professional with a drive to find innovative ways to drive efficiency and achieve consistently high standards. Applicants must be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and display a positive and professional work attitude with an open-minded flexible attitude.You must be a sophisticated communicator, able to communicate effectively with and motivate junior team members as well as interacting with other Board members and trustees enabling understanding of key financial information. This is a key hire that requires a collaborative individual with proven people management and development skills.This is a permanent role paying £80,000 - £85,000 plus benefits. The Charity offers agile working so you will be required when restrictions are lifted, to work 2 days in the office and 3 days from home. Required skills
