Job Description

We are the United Kingdom Division of Stewart Title Guaranty Company, a leading provider of residential and commercial title insurance. As one of the largest title insurers in the world, Stewart Title specializes in providing our clients with exceptionalservice, deep expertise and innovative solutions to help close their real estate transactions with peace of mind.Job DescriptionThis position will report to the Vice President, Finance, and will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and all statutory accounting policies for the Company. Managing a group of accounting professionals, this role is responsible for themonthly financial statement preparation, quarterly and annual statutory regulatory filings, ownership of internal controls over financial reporting and finance systems and management of the relationship with the companys auditors, actuaries, and consultants.Responsibilities

  • Responsible for quarterly and annual regulatory and financial reporting for the UK company, its subsidiaries, and branches.
  • Lead the preparation of financial reports and presentations for management and materials for Board of Directors meetings and Board Committee meetings
  • Responsible for reviewing the outside actuarys work (Solvency II, QRTs, NSTs and other actuarial function reports) and providing them necessary inputs to complete their work
  • Assist with preparing the Solvency II, ORSA, RSR and other regulatory reports
  • Reviewing the various local regulatory filings for premium and income taxes
  • Managing and coordinating all internal, external, regulatory, Solvency II and tax audits
  • Reviewing monthly financial statements and variance reports prepared for the US Corporate office
  • Managing a growing finance department and auditor/actuarial relationships
  • Prepares financial projections, cash flows, modellings, business/capital plans and other ad hoc financial analysis
  • Work closely with the IFRS 17 implementation team to implement IFRS 17 in local jurisdictions required to adopt the standard
  • To work with and support the company accounting teams for IFRS journal entry posting, reconciliations and regulatory filing preparations.
  • To perform analysis on complex accounting issues and assist with ad hoc audit requests
  • Identify and implement solutions which improve efficiency and effectiveness through the elimination, simplification, and automation of processes
  • Meets deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Participate in special projects as required
Qualifications
  • University degree with a focus in finance or accounting
  • Candidate will be an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working at a financial services organization (preferably insurance company) in the areas of financial accounting/reporting/audits or an accounting firm working on insurance/banking audits
  • Proficient in UK GAAP, IFRS and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Strong team orientation with ability to collaborate with internal clients, peers and management
  • Strong customer service orientation, good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within Finance as well as the client groups supported
  • Experience in ERP systems is an asset
  • Proficient in Excel, including VLOOKUP, Pivot table functions etc.
