Reed are looking for a Development Management Engineer (Highway Works).This role will give you the opportunity to carry out all relevant duties and responsibilities in the work of the Highways Development Control Team on behalf of the wider Highways Service to ensure the delivery of cost effective and quality services in accordancewith Regional Enterprise (Res) vision and values so as to enhance the quality of life and physical environment and contribute to the prosperity of the borough.This role offers flexible working, with the office being based in North LondonOur client is a local authority, making it an ideal place to work and embed your long term career.What is the day-to-day of the role: Process highway applications under S38, S184, S278 of the Highways Act 1980. Process Stopping Up applications, Highway Licences, Projection Licences under the Highways Act 1980 and Town and Country Planning Act 1990. Undertake engineering assessments of highway applications and provide the relevant information in report form and make suitable recommendations Technical approval of Highway submissions to ensure conformity with the current regulations, standards and specifications Liaise and negotiate with Legal Services and third parties on applications under S38, S278, Stopping Up Orders and other Licences in connection with the highways development management schemes. Prepare cost estimates for highway works associated with development management schemes. Attend meetings, technical groups and stakeholder forums as required and represent the Highway Authority in meetings with developers and other public sector officers.Required Skills and Qualifications: You must be qualified to a minimum of ONC/HNC, ideally Degree level or equivalent in Civil or Highway Engineering / Transportation Minimum of 2 years Post-Graduate Experience Extensive experience in managing S38 and S278 projects including technical audits and adoption processes.
