This unleashes the potential to improve the way we are able to prevent, detect and diagnose diseases such as cancer, heart disease and asthma.At Health Data Research UK, we employ talented individuals who bring their own unique skills and experience to support the vision and benefit the whole team.Purpose of the postHDR UK requires the services of an experienced Dev/Ops Lead to define, implement and manage the infrastructure of healthdatagateway.org (Gateway) and all associated services. The role also covers the system administration for all HDR UK servicesWork closely with the Solution Architect, Scrum Master and software developers to build the correct infrastructure and implement the appropriate CI/CD framework. The role will involve ensuring all of the relevant security frameworks are appropriate and are in place.Main Responsibilities: Dev/Ops Lead: Responsible for Gateways Google Cloud Platform deployment Defining all infrastructure as code resources for containers and applications Responsible for tuning MongoDB persistence, search tools and application layer (Node.js) Building and maintaining the CI/CD Pipeline Responsible for any and all ML/Ops environments and helping with production of reference architectures relating to ML/Ops Responsible for managing each fortnightly code release Managing all environments - Dev, Staging and ProductionSystem Administration Responsible for the internal configuration management of internal systems Responsible for password management and deployment of vault technologies Helping support the bringing of complex contracts in house by documenting and recording the current technical IT estate and the process of deployment to liveOrganisation Liaison: A stretch responsibility involves working with hubs & alliance members (other research institutes with computing requirements) on their architecture deployments of ML/Ops and other technical deployments. Communication skills in terms of documentation and evangelising benefits of Dev/Ops Responsible for all security assets of the Gateway Supporting strategy developmentTeam working & management responsibility: Working closely with Software Developers on CI/CD, BDD Testing and fortnightly deployments Working closely with Scrum Master for regular deployments and managing issues that may impact releases. Working with Scrum Master to develop teams as neededContinuous Improvement:HDR UK is dedicated to continuous improvement through our quality management system and demonstrated by our commitment to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation. The post-holder will review, analyse, identify and implement opportunities for quality improvement within their specialism and as part of the wider team through our strategy development and internal audit processes.Key contacts / relationships:Work collaboratively across the internal organization (CTOs office) and externally with 3rd party System Integrators, software vendors, infrastructure providers and end-users (academics and corporate users). Work closely with the internal domain leads owners and the external UX/UI designers.Knowledge, skills and experienceEssential: 5+ years experience of System Administration Google Cloud Platform experience CI/CD Pipeline development and management experience Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, CI/CD Strategic planning and alignment across different teams Managing multidisciplinary and matrixed teams Operating across national teams and different strategic initiatives (i.e. science and technology) Supporting development of technical teamsDesirable: Experience using Confluence, JIRA, Trello and similar Agile project management tools. Experience of Cucumber or other BDD Testing Tool Knowledge of ML/Ops tools & workflows Any DevSecOps knowledge is highly beneficial. Any GCP certification is a plus Managing teamsDimensions This is a full-time 5 day per week role As a result of the pandemic, staff are currently working remotely. All HDR UK roles are primarily based at the London offices, however we are flexibly working across a number of geographical locations.
