Job Description

Desktop Build Engineer (MAC & Windows)- London - 1 month Rolling (Inside IR35)An urgent role has arisen for a Desktop Build Engineer based in London on a monthly rolling assignment to assist my client in MAC OS & Windows builds. Please see further information below:Profile:

  • Knowledge of PC and Mac operating systems with intermediate troubleshooting capabilities if possible.
  • Existing experience using a ticket management system (Ours is Solarwinds).
  • Preferability with good communication and organisation skills, as he may be required to speak directly with users on some occasions
Experience:
  • Experience providing customer support to users/floorwalking.
  • Experience within a complex desktop support environment.
  • Extensive experience of troubleshooting desktop support issues, both routine and unique, from initial problem analysis through to implementation of solutions is essential.
Build process:
  • Gather build manifests from our helpdesk as well as be assigned to build by our engineers
  • Stock check and procurement requests to supply the build requirements (basically just an email with items and quantity needed - The quotes, POs and invoices will be handled by our internal Procurement team)
  • MAC builds
    • Build machine using JAMF Zero Touch which install our default set of applications (O365, VPN, Zoom, Sophos, etc)
    • ( 45 mins average per machine)
  • PC builds
    • Create local account - Windows updates - Manual install our set of applications (O365, VPN, Zoom, Sophos, Solar Winds Discovery Agent, etc) - Bind machine to domain
    • (Average build time 60 mins)
  • Final checks to make sure the standard software package have been installed successfully
  • Manual install of additional software (not always required)
  • Assign asset to the user on SolarWinds Inventory
  • Book delivery using our DHL or Rush Corporate account
  • Pack, label and get parcel ready for collection
