Who were looking for Were looking for a Delivery Lead to join our Wealth IT team to lead the Investment and Finance delivery team. Delivery Leads are accountable for their teams contribution to the business value stream assigned to them. They will also exhibit the principles and practices of Lean-Agile leadership which build long-term and continuously improving delivery capabilities. About Schroders Were a global investment manager. What doesnt change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper. The base We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. Were close to our clients, in the heart of the UKs financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. The team The Wealth IT team consists of some 60 individuals, covering software delivery, application support, infrastructure provisioning and Information Security and is evenly distributed between our Zurich and London offices. There are three delivery teams aligned respectively to the Finance & Investments, Operations and Client Service areas of the business. The Delivery and Engineering Leads form part of the IT senior management team and report directly to the COO. The Wealth business is recognised as an increasingly important part of the Schroders Group and as such is receiving strong investment in IT. We are one year into an ambitious and broad-ranging technical transformation programme which includes a major upgrade of our core platform and a strong focus on improving our DevOps capability. A key project for the Investment team is the implementation of a new Portfolio Management System to support the ambitious growth targets of Schroders Wealth. Our IT platform is built largely on commercial off-the-shelf software, centred on Temenos T24 banking platform, complemented by internally developed software where it delivers significant competitive advantage. Our development technology stack is polyglot, primarily Java, but with an increasing focus on adoption of the Azure platform and .NET. As a Delivery Lead, you will also form part of the broader Enterprise Software Delivery function within Enterprise Technology. This function exists to help us improve the way we provide business value through quality, predictable, and supportable software delivery. What youll do • Lead the delivery of a new Portfolio Management System to support the ambitious business growth plans • Line manage; set objectives; agree personal development plans and provide regular feedback to team members • Manage the budget of the value streams delivered through your teams • Manage stakeholders and, build an excellent partnership with the Product Owner/s (internally referred to as Capability Owners) • Identify, document, negotiate, and oversee engagements with vendors and consultancy suppliers • Support the teams and work with them to remove blockers, enabling them to meet their agreed commitments • Partner with an Engineering Lead to ensure the technology roadmap for the business is appropriate and aligned with the technical strategy • Partner with the Engineering Lead to ensure the backlogs balance incremental delivery of value with appropriate technical quality • Ensure appropriate input is supplied and considered by all stakeholders for key strategic decisions and problem-solving discussions • Partner with the Product Owner to advocate the roadmap ensuring its appropriateness for both the business and technology • Collaborate and contribute within the delivery community to define best practices for Global Technology teams globally • Ensure that there is appropriate and timely reporting, including information such as delivery status, budget changes, financial forecasting and actuals, risks, dependencies, etc. • Ensure delivery teams work to increase efficiency and effectiveness through creative problem solving, improved collaboration, alignment, and self-organisation The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need • Experience of managing people and developing their talent within software delivery teams • Experience of successfully applying a range of delivery frameworks (ideally including SAFe), having understood the difference and values of each) • Knowledge and experience of identifying appropriate technology solutions, understanding the difference between in-house-developed bespoke applications and commercially available off-the-shelf solutions • Excellent communication skills to help manage relationships with stakeholders of all levels • Excellent ability to quickly pick up knowledge of the business and a passion for understanding the business context of the solutions we provide • Ability to communicate how the work delivered by the teams contributes to the strategy of the organisation • Ability to produce and communicate effective and insightful thought leadership on technical and business topics • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help • An open mind, a desire to improve and a hunger to learn and to help others do the same What youll be like • An inspiring and collaborative leader, model of agile leadership approach • Strategic thinker and excellent communicator, able to coach, lead and convince • Client focused, driven to work collaboratively to find the right technology solution • Be willing to get your hands dirty to get the job done • You challenge how things are done and anticipate future opportunities • You value teamwork and the contribution of individuals and encourage healthy debate • You build strong relationships based on trust and confidentiality • You want to excel at what you do and continually strive to do better Were looking for the best, whoever they are Schroders is an equal opportunities employer.
