Water is essential to life, so our business is always open.We are looking for a Daywork Operator Technician 1 to embark on a rewarding training and career path, working at our Crossness Sewage Treatment Works in South East LondonWhat is the purpose of this roleWorking on-site, you will be responsible for performing a range of activities to ensure that all equipment associated with our sewage treatment works are running safely and efficiently. In addition, you will be required to assist the site technicians as wellas sample testing, routine checks, maintenance and problem-solving.What does this role involveA varied and vital role that encompasses a range of duties including

  • Monitoring and inspecting equipment, following a checklist to carry out planned preventative maintenance
  • Reporting any defective equipment, to ensure a swift resolution following any breakdowns.
  • Highlighting, and resolving where possible, any health and safety risks on site. Taking ownership of your own, and colleagues, health and safety through escalating any concerns to your manager and resolving them yourself where possible
  • Make sure the work area is safe before commencing any work by undertaking a point-of-work risk assessment
  • Having an awareness of budget position and how unplanned events can impact the budget (e.g. tanker/plant/pump hire, etc.)
  • Attending all team meetings, engaging with safety briefings and company communications, identifying issues and raising constructive feedback with the management team, with suggestions for improvements
What skills are required for this roleDo you have similar experience working in an outside, manual role We are looking for someone who is wanting to get stuck in and will have an enthusiastic approach. You will have basic literacy and numeracy skills and must be prepared to be trained in safetyprocedures including Confined Space Entry. Some computer data input /enquiry experience is desirable. Due to the nature of the role a full, valid UK driving licence is required.What makes this role uniqueWorking outside with no one day being the same provides a very interesting working environment.
