Job Description

Leading US law firm is looking to hire a new permanent Data Specialist to working extensively with the Records Management team to facilitate the information needs of the firms document management system (NetDocuments) and other electronic data storage locations,this position is responsible for performing in-depth data analysis, defining information needs, and delivering information via various defined methods. The firm is very generous with their salaries and initial thoughts for this Data Specialist role is aroundthe £65,000 mark.Data Specialist duties and responsibilities:

• Perform complex data analysis on document management system metadata, locally stored information, Outlook, Enterprise Vault and other firm systems as needed;
• Work with the Firm administrative departments and management to analyze business processes, identify gaps and define requirements for technical solutions including reporting, data warehousing and general application development; assist in the developmentof process changes or new technical solutions to satisfy the business need;
• Develop reports using MS Access, Excel and Powershell; create SQL-statement-based queries or tools to facilitate data analysis;
• Work as part of a team to develop data analysis models; create reports against source and data warehouse technologies; assist the business units in their information needs and end user reporting solutions;
• Contribute to a program to control how data should flow and be managed across firm systems. Promote standards and leading practices to address authoritative/master source for each data element, data labeling and controls for regulated data elements subjectto GDPR and other privacy regulations;
• Work with end users to address ad-hoc data analysis requests; determine the proper course of action; and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to properly manage ones own workload;
• Develop methodologies and plans to organize and classify unstructured data including project planning for legacy data clean up;
• Provide thought leadership in the definition, communication, education and implementation of data strategy and roadmaps, data asset inventories, data governance, and data management.
• Create data management documentation, including business context diagrams, data flow diagrams, conceptual, logical, security procedures.
• Contribute to strategies required to address key aspects of data management.
• Document end to end data flows, including third party access and security control points.

Data Specialist QualificationsRequired

• Bachelors degree from an accredited or approved college or university
• At least 3 years of work experience in a related business or business intelligence field
• Excellent overall computer skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Visio and PowerPoint at an intermediate level)
• Familiarity with Advanced MS Excel (formulas, conditional formatting, advanced charts, if, vlookup, len, left, right, mid, date, text, concatenate)
• Familiarity with MS Access or other similar Reporting Tools
• Strong SQL Skills
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts along with experience with report writing and database query tools

Preferred

• Two year work experience in a professional services industry
• Education or experience in information management regulations and handling
• Experience with client-server applications utilizing a SQL Server (or similar) database
• Experience with Cognos TM1
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Analysis Services
• Crystal Reports Development Experience
