Job Description

Data Scientist - £60,000 - LondonMy client is looking for a Data Scientist to contribute to several Digital, AI and healthcare projects working closely and collaboratively with an experienced and wider team.Key Responsibilities

  • Act as data science and statistical lead for the analysis of a range of complex data and provide advice on statistical design and analysis for various research programmes
  • To develop data science and statistical analysis plans and contribute to research protocols for research projects
  • To perform and write reports for interim and final analyses for trial steering, data monitoring committees, and funding bodies
  • To undertake all tasks in accordance with best practice and standard operating procedures
  • Work independently to produce data that can be published within national and international policy white papers for our stakeholders
  • Perform data science and statistical analysis of diverse data sets and provide insight, guidance, and interpretation of results
  • Publish work in academic journals, working with other members of the team to communicate the science internationally
  • Work with the research team to create reports for funders, policymakers, and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with PIs and research fellows to develop research projects, grants and papers to grow the research team and the academic and policy output of the department.
Experience:
  • Extensive experience of using standard statistical packages, such as STATA, R, Python or SAS
  • Experience of working with complex data sets
  • Experience of manipulating/cleaning data Experience of writing reports of statistical analyses
  • Evidence of having made a significant contribution to writing proposals
  • Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience of working in and analysing data from clinical and non-clinical interventions trials, questionnaire studies, learning-curve studies, simulations, and audits
  • Experience in data analysis in classical clinical trials, real-world evidence, adaptive and novel trials using modern statistical modelling techniques
Desirable:
  • Evidence of teaching and teaching support
  • Awareness and experience of AI/ NLP/ machine learning approaches
  • Awareness and experience of hybrid and semi-quantitative statistical approaches
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and experience of developing research protocols
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative skills for data analysis and experience of carrying this out Strong quantitative methodology knowledge and experience of data analysis using modern statistical modelling techniques.
  • Demonstrable interest in clinical trials
  • Understanding of the fundamental principles of clinical and non-clinical health trials and observational studies, simulations, and learning-curve studies
  • Understanding of the ethical issues relating to medical research, clinical trials and observation studies, audits, questionnaires, simulations, and learning-curve studies
  • Knowledge of the design of observational, interventional research studies and systematic review methodology
  • Knowledge of Big Data procurement and analysis (including administrative and population datasets from a variety of sources including national audits and questionnaire studies)
