FIS ensures that HMRC has an effective approach to taking on the most serious tax evasionand fraud. Working across Law Enforcement and government, DSI provides investigative tools and covert techniques to front-line investigations and works with key partners to develop and provide access to new technology and systems to enable investigators torespond to serious and complex tax evasion and crime.Job descriptionThe Communications Exploitation Team (CET) provides a dedicated service to all Targeted Intercept (TI) supported operations, focusing on the analysis of communications events, forensic imagingand open source intelligence collection connected to Organised Crime Groups. TI sits within Digital Support & Innovation and is responsible for the interception of communications relating to HMRCs most serious organised crime operations working closely withother Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and the UK Intelligence Community (UKIC) to tackle emerging threats and develop new capabilities and methodologies to investigate serious organised crime.ResponsibilitiesYou will be assigned to support specific TI operationsto maintain, develop and analyse the current intelligence picture using a range of sensitive capabilities. You will collate and validate intelligence, use critical thinking to evaluate and prioritise credible intelligence artefacts and report findings to theTI Case Manager to progress TI operations. This role is continuously developing to keep pace with the constantly evolving technology landscape. You will provide operational support to colleagues within TI. You will be provided with on the job training andyou will be encouraged to attend and complete advanced Open Source Intelligence training. Targeted Intercept works closely with various UK Government Agencies. Outstanding performance in this role may present opportunities to broaden your skills and experiencethrough loan arrangements with partner Law Enforcement and Intelligence Agencies. Key Responsibilities:Capture intelligence using specialist assets to progress and support criminal investigations.React to time critical events in live investigations. Communicate technical issues effectively to others.Create tradecraft and exploitation techniques in an agile operational environment and supply these to the wider TI community to redefine serious organised criminality.Prepare accurate and timely reports. Carry out open source research identifying intelligence that will contribute to TI investigations.Build effective links with equivalent colleagues across the law enforcement and intelligence communities.Utilise Communication Data capabilities to progresscriminal investigations.Analyse a range of intercept and other intelligence sources and report on findings. Essential CriteriaPossess high levels of motivation, initiative and problem-solving abilities.Possess good attention to detail and be ableto follow Standard Operating Procedures accurately and consistently.Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with departmental colleagues and other Law Enforcement and Intelligence partnersHave good verbal and written communication skills.Thispost requires National Security vetting at Security Check (SC) You must be able to attain a security clearance of at least SC level initially, (if not already held).
