Job Description

Data Engineers needed for a Consultancy specialising in Data Engineering, Data Science and Cloud infrastructure. With only 4 levels in their hierarchy between consultant and partner, everyone is empowered to have a positive influence in the way we do things.Please note that a lot of their work is in government, so will require DV or SC clearance or the ability to acquire. Role & Responsibilities:

  • Working within their data engineering practice, a team who provide expertise and specialist data transformation services, enabling clients to gain insight from their data.
  • Direct involvement in the Data Engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering and development activities through to production deployments.
  • Working directly with clients to understand their business problems and translate these into data pipelines from prototype to production-ready code.
  • Implement data pipelines to connect operational systems and data for analytics and BI systems
  • Promote the adoption and integration of data engineering into the client organisation. Helping to drive innovation both internally and with clients.
  • Build source to target mappings and similarly interpret these mapping specifications in order to build efficient data pipelines.
  • Able to utilise services from cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, as well as metadata driven platforms like Informatica or Talend.
  • Define and participate in Proof of Concepts for the client and internally provided use cases. Helping to assess and propose innovative solutions based on business requirements.
    • Essential Requirements
  • 3+ years proven experience in working on relevant data engineering projects
  • Strong SQL skills with a solid understanding of dimensional modelling
  • Knowledge of programming languages (esp. Java)
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience using cloud platforms
  • Strong communicator and stakeholder management experience is essential, with the ability to articulate and present findings and insights at the right level for a wide audience.
  • Experience of working within large, complex and geographically dispersed Programmes
  • Knowledge of data management best practices, such as DAMA.
  • Experienced working with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver findings.
  • Experienced conducting data quality assurance, validation and linkage.
  • Able to utilise tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation such as SQL, PowerBI or Qlik.
