Job Title: Data EngineerLocation: London, Victoria, can work from home 2 days a weekSalary: Up to circa £50,000Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pmBenefits:

About the client and the role of Data EngineerOur client is a successful fintech Buy to Let Lender and have a new vacancy for a Data Engineer to join the Data team. This role requires well-honed data engineering skills as well as competency in data analytics. It will give you the opportunity to growin many areas such as infrastructure and systems management, pipeline development and data analytics. You will receive coaching and training from other Data team members and the wider Tech team.Responsibilities for the role of Data Engineer
  • You will lead on evolving our existing data system, helping to keep it robust and efficient.
  • This role is strongly aligned with the business, such that you will be involved in delivering technical solutions for internal stakeholders and our external partners.
  • You will take responsibility for infrastructure components, service operations, APIs, code management and more.
  • You will work on the development of an awesome data pipeline in the world of microservices.
  • Work with the platform engineering team to develop our data pipeline, collecting analytics events from our microservices and loading them into our reporting suite.
  • Work with cutting-edge tech such as DBT, Hevo, Prefect, Snowflake, AWS, Looker, etc
  • Connect data from external sources (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, third-party data suppliers, etc) and integrate with our production sources.
  • Integrate testing into our pipeline to ensure integrity and reliability.
  • Come up with awesome techniques to ensure and to monitor the quality and freshness of data.
  • Support our business intelligence activities by working with the Looker platform, maintaining configurations, LookML code and repo management, as well as creating reports to support the business.
  • You will be a key point of contact within the business, helping to foster a data-driven culture.
  • You will become a subject matter expert for all data questions and will understand our business inside out.
  • Youll understand how to interpret the data, with all its nuances.
  • You will help to identify and analyse trends - your voice and insights will help shape the roadmap across the business
Experience required for the role of Data Engineer
  • At least three years experience in a data engineering role working on data pipeline and ETL components.
  • Experience working in modern, agile software development environments and Product-led businesses, where there is close collaboration between Product, Engineering and Data teams.
  • Extensive experience working with data and its nuances.
  • At least a bachelors degree in a technical subject.
  • An excellent understanding of software engineering principles, modular systems, repository management, DevOps processes, etc.
  • A good understanding of internet technologies and terminology.
  • Expert SQL skills, including analytics functions.
  • Solid Python coding skills, along with an understanding of non-scripting languages (e.g. C++/C#, java, etc).
  • Experience using AWS for data pipeline work.
  • Experience using DBT or similar transformation tools.
  • Experience working with relational databases and other data storage services. Bonus points for Snowflake.
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence tools, using query code. Bonus points for Looker.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proactive self-starter who thrives in a high-trust environment and can take responsibility for owned projects.
  • Great communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas simply. Able to foster good relationships across the business.
