The Role & ResponsibilitiesThe role is part of the Group Credit Risk Function which sits in the 2nd Line of Defence.The Secretariat Function is an integral part of Group Credit Risk and the role holder is required to interact with senior bank management up to Exco level. A key requirement of the role is a strong skill set in Risk management and Credit Risk in particular.The main focus of the role is the management and smooth running of the Committees of Group Risk, namely, Enterprise Risk Management Committee 1 (ERMC 1), Group Impairment Committee (GIC) and Credit Approval Committee (CAC) (together "Committees").The job holder will be required to participate in and manage ad hoc projects from time to time and assist with staff training, as required.
  • Arranging, or liaise with the arranger of, all relevant Committee meetings, including collating and publishing packs in advance, in line with expected timescales.
  • Drafting appropriate technical minutes which are succinct, accurate and relevant. Minutes must reflect the key themes of the meeting, capture and maintain logs of (as a minimum) any actions and relevant points for noting. Minutes produced will be the formalrecord of these Executive level Committees and Sub-Committees, hence relevant technical knowledge is paramount.
  • Liaising with the Committee Chair for any amendments requested by other presenters. The role holder will be required to review these as appropriate and recommend to the Chair for approval.
  • Maintaining an up to date, relevant Committee Minute distribution list.
  • Manage the ToRs for the relevant Group Credit Risk Committees, under the direction of the Head of Group Credit Policy and Projects,
  • Devising, recording and maintain appropriate records for meetings, Policies and other procedures
  • Undertaking appropriate monitoring and analysis. The role holder must be able to produce reports which provide any key Management Information on the activities of the Committees.
  • Undertaking ad hoc work as directed by the Head of Group Credit Policy & Projects.
  • Maintain the Group Credit Risk Intranet pages for relevance and accuracy.
The Person
  • Suitably qualified with a minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths & English at C or above (or equivalent).
  • Good understanding of operating procedures and risk policies.
  • A developed understanding of the workings of a bank/credit department.
  • Financial literacy.
  • Well developed credit and lending skills, with a focus on larger ticket lending. The role holder will likely have previously held a credit underwriting mandate.
