About us Avencia consulting are working with a prestigious global insurance team. Their Global technology services department are hiring a number of core infrastructure engineers for their London office. The role The Infrastructure Engineer role providesoperational oversight and technical expertise for enterprise VMware, Nutanix, and Storage environments. This individual will provide guidance and direction to support teams and other areas of IT within the business. This position will need to bridge architectureand operations/engineering, mapping department and business requirements to specific technical efforts in order to achieve operational efficiency and excellence. Key accountabilities Duties and accountabilities Perform engineering and administrative dutiesfor VMware vCenter, NSX-T, vRealize Suite, and Tanzu as well as maintains integrations with technologies and other applications Perform engineering and administrative duties for Nutanix HCI hardware and software, Dell/EMC Isilon & Data Domain, and NetApp storagedevices Partner with other internal infrastructure engineers to perform operational support and project activity, including daily checks Perform resolution of sophisticated hardware, environmental software operating systems and subsystems as part of criticalincident response and remediation Partner with architecture to evaluate, recommend and select new software/hardware Perform change management using standard tools. Ensures conformance and compliance with existing system standards. Measure performance to ensureproper operation Train technical staff on use of software/hardware tools in accordance with required standards and procedures Participate in after hours critical production support as the need arises, as well as planned off hours maintenance and project workPerform other related duties as assigned Skills & experience Certification VMware certification preferred Nutanix, EMC or NetApp certification a plus ITIL Certification or experience working in an ITIL environment preferred Work Experience Solid experiencein providing technical delivery of large projects working with partners from the business and development and infrastructure teams Good experience with VMware vCenter, ESXi required Solid experience with Nutanix Prism Central and AHV desired Experience withDell/EMC Isilon & Data Domain or NetApp desired Experience with VMware NSX-T, vRealize Suite a plus Familiarity with storage subsystems in relation to virtualisation Experience of opening priority incidents with external vendors and working towards resolutionrequired Familiarity with PowerShell or scripting technologies and automation capabilities Demonstration of detailed understanding of how discrete infrastructure components work together to provide reliable and secure hosting environment Experience workingwith Cloud technologies including Azure Understanding of security concepts and how they impact functional areas required Skill Sets Good interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills, that are tailoredfor the intended audience Experience working in an acquisition minded environment with the ability to scale technologies, people and process Familiarity operating within an Agile and DevOps environment preferred Deep technical foundation that enables thoughtfultroubleshooting during complex incidents
