Job Description

Exciting opportunity for a Convenience Retail Analyst with NielsenIQ Spaceman experiance to provide insights into current convenience trends for this global Energy company. The UK Mobility business has a company owned presence of 525 service stations. As a Non Fuel Retail (NFR) business, CR UK sources goods and services across a broad spectrum of FMCG categories. UK has a core offer of FMCG products and services complemented witha food-for-now proposition. This is enhanced with a food-for-later and top-up convenience offer developed in close collaboration with alliance partners. To drive long term sustainable growth, the business is focused on developing an ever-evolving offer thatsatisfies the needs of a diverse customer base. Each service station has to provide customers with an optimal mobility offer and must cater to customers with different retail shopping missions. The Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting key stakeholders with the provision of valuable market insights to ensure profitable growth, now and in the future. No day is likely to look the same as he/she makes recommendations or seeks out newopportunities. The position will be responsible for keeping abreast of all new market developments, benchmarking performance against the competition and identifying untapped or future growth opportunities. Due to the wide scope of work, the position holdermust have excellent analytical skills and experience needed to interrogate market data and reports to provide insights for high-profile initiatives and emerging trends. This must however be combined with strong stakeholder management skills. Key Accountabilities: Ensure that CR UK has a constant provision of market intelligence and/or market performance tracking tools in place to deliver best-in-class insights and business decisions Deliver a continuous flow of market, customer and consumer insights through extensive review of different data sources; seeking to unlock profitable sales growth opportunities through understanding of different consumer needs or shopper missions Provide insight and data to optimise untapped revenue opportunities across the full spectrum of CR categories and services; ensuring sales and income streams are maximised (prompting remedial action from peers where required) Liaise with Global Customer Insights to ensure CR UK has a vital stream of brand, customer and NFR insights Manage the UK relationship and contractual responsibilities for all external market data sources and industry bodies Review market developments and benchmark performance using external market data companies or industry bodies (e.g Nielsen, IRI, HIM, IGD, ACS); looking for emerging trends within the competition or new category opportunities Undertake regular field visits in market visiting company owned and dealer owned stores alongside competitor store visits (forecourt, convenience, high street and travel) Provide an agile response when needed for a differing range of bespoke activities (incl. senior management data requests, modelling of potential new business opportunities, evaluation of new contract scenarios); identifying and presenting low risk and highvalue solutions to key stakeholders Measure, track and report performance against the UK Retail Ambitions 2025 KPIs with particular focus on NFR Establish a multi-functional relationship across all levels of the UK retail business; ensuring continuous improvement of the UK CR proposition and excellent execution throughout the business To deliver all of the above, demonstrate a clear understanding of retail fundamentals such as assortment, merchandising, promotions and operational processesThe Candidate: Direct experience of the UK convenience retail business and NielsenIQ Spaceman experience. Highly analytical; very robust analytical skills with a rounded understanding of the dynamics of the shopper and the retailer, underpinned by a deep consumer led mindset Strong commercial acumen; high functioning understanding of the metrics for sales, margin and profitability supported with strong understanding of all performance influencing factors Extensive experience of use of all core MI tools (Excel, Business Objects, Alteryx and Power BI) Strong relationship management skills; able to adapt approach to different audiences or circumstances Collaborative; able to work across multiple external and internal touch points, a strong team player Agility; able to respond at speed to changing business demands, reacting to challenging or unforeseen circumstances in a calm and measured manner Resilience; up for a challenge and able to prioritise workload when under pressure from different stakeholders Relevant experience; first-hand experience and understanding of FMCG or direct consumer goods retailing experience is a key advantage, as well as sound knowledge of Convenience Retail in general.This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellentcommunication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
