Job Description

Configuration and Hardware Asset Manager required to work with a Government department. This is a 6 month contract, inside IR35, paying £425 per day. Remote until further notice (offices based in London) You will be SC cleared or be eligible for SC clearance.You will be part of a programme delivering new cloud-based EUCS services and modern end user devices. You will be responsible for any configuration management and, to a lesser extent, hardware asset related requirements from the programme.You will contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality configuration management data models, policies and processes related to the business and technical services the programme is delivering and their underlying CIs and ensure that other processes, e.g. release management, security management (vulnerabilities management and patching), change management, are fully aware of configuration management requirements and are integrating configuration management into their activities.You will contribute the hardware asset management processes to ensure assets can be managed successfully internally and by suppliers throughout deployment to users and thereafter, and provide input and expertise into the design and improvements of related processes, e.g. asset related service requests, Change Management, the asset related aspects of JML processes, etc. You will be the conduit between the programme team and the BAU SACM to ensure all processes meet the requirements of all stakeholders and quality assure the continued management of configuration items and hardware assets. You will take a lead from a programme perspective on any work related to integration of configuration item and asset related external toolsets into ServiceNow, such as discovery tools, to ensure these are fit for purpose and align to the wider SACM requirements.*Essential to your success will be the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a variety of suppliers, both internal and external, and business stakeholders. *You will be expected to maintain data quality, integrity and security of the CMDB, working closely with the BAU Config Management Team, other IT service management teams and programmes, Suppliers, and other Key Internal Stakeholders. *Collaborate with all Suppliers and internal teams to ensure Configuration Management processes, procedures and policies are defined, followed, ensuring contractual obligations are met where applicable.*Govern and support the processes regarding the effectiveness of the CMDB, identifying any risks or issues.*Review critical incident outage resolution results, responses and dispositions of failed changes due to Configuration Management related issues for config items.*Drive forward activities to deliver key improvements ensuring processes and tools are fit for purpose along with knowledge transfer and education to BAU Teams.As a Configuration and Hardware Asset Manager you will work collaboratively with other teams and key stakeholders and will have the following:Skills/ knowledge*Excellent knowledge of defining and improving configuration management systems and processes.*A thorough understanding of the ServiceNow CMDB, including associated table structures, workflows, relationships and related functionality, including data loads.*A good understanding of ServiceNow ITOM and how it can be used effectively configured and utilised from a configuration management.*Demonstrable experience of onsite and off-site data quality auditing.*Solid understanding of outsourced vendor and internal supplier governance and management practices.*Solid understanding of CM related IT security management processes, practices and technology.*Excellent communication skills; approachable; authoritative; diplomatic; demonstrates empathyExperience*Essential: We are ONLY looking for someone with experience in defining and implementing configuration management data models and CM related processes for cloud services and infrastructure as code (AWS, Azure, 365).*Essential: You will have recent experience with ServiceNow ITOM.*Relevant professional work experience in Configuration Management and Information Technology Asset Management System, and specifically ServiceNow CMDB. *Extensive Experience of integrating related external tooling, such as Intune, Nexthink and discovery toolsets.*Degree Level in Information Technology, Business Computing or equivalent.*Experience of CM related aspects of IT workplace, data centre, network and telecommunications infrastructure architectures and operations, specifically Cloud services and infrastructure as code.*Experience and understanding of configuration management approaches, methods and tools.*Able to demonstrate experience designing and delivering IT Asset Management control and execution policies and procedures.*Able to effectively work with virtual teams and vendors to achieve outcomes.Please apply should you meet the above criteriaBadenoch + Clark acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
